For those who celebrate, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. If you haven’t already, check out my 12 Days of Anime posts for this year.

On the other hand I plan to do things differently for this yearly Christmas post. Here, I will volunteer myself to answer a set of questions written by Silvachief, who writes a blog called The Geek Clinic, which focuses on visual novels, Anime, music and video games. If you still want to see more answers for questions asked by other bloggers, check out the ones I answered for Yumeka and AceRailgun. (Image Source)

Thoughts on Anime/Japanese Media Criticism – Can there ever be an Objective Criticism?

December 3, 2013 by Chikorita157 8 Comments

In the past, I covered several topics relating to criticism such as what Anime is good and what is bad. Now, I want to focus more thoughts on criticism of Anime or media in general as I only touch upon how I reviewed things. I understand that people will have different options, thus a well-balanced or objective one can be difficult to achieve for various reasons.

Young Characters and School Settings – Why they are popular?

November 27, 2013 by Chikorita157 Leave a Comment

Back in 2009 when I started watching Anime, I started to notice a noticeable trend in Anime these days, It seems that most of these shows take place in a high school setting and usually star a young male or female character. While I think demographics play a big role in this, but there are cultural and other reasons why they do so. (Image Source)

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;birth1 – First Impressions

November 23, 2013 by Chikorita157 4 Comments

sample-8d36652fcd5fb4e0b34094db1e4ab44c

Back in 2010, Compile Heart created a roleplaying game based on the console wars with video game consoles personified as cute girls in a game called Hyperdimension Neptunia (超次元ゲイムネプチューヌ). While it was an interesting concept, Idea Factory managed to mess it up. The first game shows this with obvious gamebreaking bugs, poor graphics for a PS3 game, difficulties trying to heal your characters among other things. They eventually realized how unfinished the first game was, so they remade it for the Vita. Since I received the game three weeks ago, I want to share my first impressions. (Image Source)

Pokémon The Origin – Final Review

November 15, 2013 by Chikorita157 9 Comments

Artist: gumidemo kandero

During my childhood, I used to watch the Pokémon Anime. It was enjoyable seeing Ash/Satoshi use his Pikachu to defeat an Onix. Eventually, I lost interest in the show since it has a lot of filler episodes and for the fact that it’s loosely based off the games, especially when Ash/Satoshi’s Pikachu lost to a freaking Surskit in a recent episode!

On the other hand, Gamefreak decided to make short Anime special based off the original games titled Pokémon The Origin staring Red and Blue (named Green in this Anime). With this new take on the Pokémon Games, will it live up to its name? Perhaps. (Image Source)
