Hyperdimension Neptunia the Animation – Episode 4 – Nepgear’s Renewed Hope

August 3, 2013 by Chikorita157 4 Comments
It appears that the girls found a new punching bag to use.
It appears that the girls found a new punching bag to use.

As the four goddesses get’s trapped into a field created by Magiquone, Nepgear desperately wants to save them.

While this episode starts with a dramatic tone as Nepgear sees her older sister trapped in the anti-crystal barrier along with getting blamed by Uni for the whole thing, thankfully things got better. Nepgear, Uni, Rom and Ram know that they are just CPU candidates, thus they feel that they can’t be more powerful than their older sisters. It’s true that they are adorable and precious. However, the goddesses eventually have to allow them gain the ability to transform and fight so they can help each other when one is in a bind.

The myth that CPU candidates can't transform is busted.
The myth that CPU candidates can’t transform is busted.

From the effort the sisters put into training in the virtual reality and fighting for real, it just shows that they are not completely helpless. Most importantly, Nepgear finally gain the ability to transform into her HDD form. Hopefully, the other three sisters will gain their own transformations so they can help save the goddesses as well.

Using dial up internet in the 21st century is painful.

On the other hand, I was happy that there were a good amount of lighthearted moments despite the goddesses being in distress. The funniest part of the episode is when Abnes appears and becomes delighted that the goddesses aren’t there while the sisters trained. She gets used as a punching bag, which is hilarious considering how creepy her obsession for little girls. Also, Warechu complaining about dialup Internet is humorous and nostalgic because I grew up with that in the late 90s and early 2000s. I can’t imagine how painful it will be to blog about Anime on dialup Internet.

It's clear what girl IF lifes.
It’s clear what kind of girl IF likes.

With Nepgear finally in her HDD form, I wonder how will Magiquone is going to react to this new development considering the strong possibility of her plan blowing up in her face. I think Magiquone and Warechu is in for a big surprise.

There is more yuri in the games than we seen in this Anime thus far. But still, it will be nice to see Neptune and Noire together. :p

And thus, my approval of this adaptation was sealed. As long as a certain word is not used, all will be well with Gamindustri.

While it’s an original story (possibly taking parts from the three games and combining it into the Anime), its fun. I like the characters quite a lot, especially playing some of the Idol spinoff. I hope the Neptune remake will be an improvement over the original as I heard it wasn’t good in terms of gameplay and graphics, especially in comparison Mk2 and Victory.
