Now that we are in a new year, of course, I plan to share what I plan to watch briefly before sharing my thoughts on 2025 and a plan for 2026.
As expected, this list is subject to change.

For a while now, I have noticed that this year alone, many rage-bait and hate content farms have been popping up, especially in video games. It’s not too surprising, since, besides rampant inflation and rising video game prices, creating negative content is much easier than creating positive content. I get it —the world is chaotic right now, and people are upset that they’re being priced out of their hobbies.
However, most of the rage-bait and hate content farms come from people who don’t even play the game or aren’t even in the fandom to begin with. This trend is very noticeable with the Nintendo Switch 2, which received a lot of hate primarily due to its price and a few other controversial decisions, such as game key cards. Yes, I think some of the criticisms are valid or compelling. If you dig deeper, it’s only filled with rage-bait and negative content, which makes you think, are their points really genuine, or are they just doing it for the money and are creatively bankrupt?
After seeing the discourse surrounding Pokémon Legends ZA, which was recently revealed to have sold about 6 million copies, in line with previous game releases, hate grifters and rage baiters (along with big influencers) are going full force in not only creating endless content bashing the game they will never play, but they also harass people who are just enjoying the game. With that, I felt the need to finally address my feelings on rage-baiters, hate-grifters and hate content farms and how it’s affecting the current discourse on video games.

Since it’s already the New Year, it’s time to share my top anime of 2024. Of course, this list is subjective and only shows aired in 2024.
The shows that I watched are:

While I am a bit late with the yearly posts today, I guess it’s time to share what I plan to watch in the upcoming season, along with a year in review and plans for this year.
As always, this list is subject to change.

Now that I have finished all the anime for this year, it’s time to focus on some of the notable Yuri pairings of this year. Compared to previous years, this list will be a bit smaller given how late it is, and there are not many yuri-genre shows that aired this year.
As expected, there is no specific order.

It’s almost coming to two years of leaving Twitter. You might be wondering, how are things going? Yes, there are a lot of challenges in cutting myself from the connections I made on Twitter that are in the Aniblogosphere as the site has gotten worse.
After I decided to cut Twitter loose, I moved on to the Fediverse with things like Mastodon and Misskey. Now that we are in two years as Elon continues to destroy what remains of the site, now called X, I may as well reflect on that and, of course, the drama with WordPress. Yes, this one is important. This is also the 2ndanniversary since I started Sakurajima on October 28, 2022.

After reading about Irina’s experiences of not learning Japanese, some people wonder how I learned Japanese correctly. While I can relate to a few experiences. Things such as picking up word immersion and some I can agree with, such as a language learning partner.
However, I disagree with some methods. Yep, it’s Duolingo, as it’s very ineffective for a complex language like Japanese. Moreover, she didn’t focus too much on knowing the Kana, which is essential.
Believe it or not, I started self-studying Japanese in college in 2012. Although I slacked off for a few years thanks to my mistake of not focusing on Kanji or the Japanese version of Chinese Characters, I fixed that. So, while I went in-depth on my experiences of studying Japanese, this guide is more of a general starting point for those who are serious about learning it.
Note: I orginally wrote this editorial back in 2022. Since then, I kept it as a draft, until now adding some additional things to the post from my recent experiences.

Well, it’s finally the last day of 2023, so I will share what I plan to watch in 2024, my thoughts on 2023 and my goals for next year.

As expected, I share my favorite Yuri pairings yearly for the “12 Days of Anime” thing. Of course, I am always late on this since I am so busy with stuff and less than the usual 12, as that is what I can come up with. The list is not in any particular order, of course.

Back in 2014, I shared my thoughts on collecting merchandise. Of course, a lot has happened since 2014, when I was in my second year working on my Master’s Degree. A lot has changed since I started working and can afford things.
As a result, since I last shared my thoughts on collecting anime merchandise, some views have changed. But, of course, there are some more things I want to go through, and there is more to this rabbit hole than what I shared last time.

Like every year, I always do the 12 days of Christmas thing. Of course, I couldn’t finish it on time since I procrastinated during the holidays. Also, I needed a break after the chaos on that site. With that, while this came out very late, at least

With 2022 coming to an end, I should probably do the low-hanging fruit post before doing the most challenging post left, 12 days of Yuri pairings post. Of course, this list should be an easy one, although there were a lot of good shows that aired this year.
…

With Christmas around the corner, it looks like I’m not going to get my 12 days of Yuri pairings posts out. I do this every year to share the yuri pairings from anime I watched during the year. However, it will come out during my holiday vacation. So I may just limit what I think about the pairing to 1-2 paragraphs and make it brief.
To make it up, I will focus on the year in review stuff and the plans for the future. But yes, 2023 will be a big year for obvious reasons.

With the talk of Elon Musk buying Twitter and the adverse effects, people wonder what the alternative places to talk about anime are? After all, Musk has a history of silencing his critics, and I can see why some are concerned. However, the question remains on who owns the platform and if some egotistical millionaire will come in and ruin the platform to allow hate speech and harassment.
Starting your anime blog may be a worthwhile experience for those looking for an alternative to Twitter. Irina and Jacob have shared their own reasons for creating one. Still, it’s always good to share other perspectives, especially from someone who has done it for 13 years straight.

With Winter coming to an end, it’s time to share some things I found interesting throughout the last three months. Yes, I will talk about Sony’s new monopoly on anime, at least in the west.

Since I have been so busy with work related and swamped with anime coverage, I plan to do these posts whenever I feel like it in the future. With that, it’s time to share some thoughts on some interesting topics from the past few months.
Also, Merry Christmas for those who celebrate. I couldn’t get the 12 Days of Anime post up on time since I was busy, but it will be out before the year ends.

It has been a while since I wrote a monthly post since I was very busy last month. With that, I want to share some interesting things from June and July. Also, I will also share some more details in the revival of the Kireina Yuri community.
