Sakura Hibiki loves to eat food. Eventually, she becomes self-conscious of her weight after one of her friends mentions how plump she became.
Judging from the beginning, it’s quite obvious that Hibiki is gaining some weight. Although it’s in the healthy range, it’s still not good if she doesn’t do anything about it. Eventually, she would become obese. In other words, she signs up at a gym with a free membership to work out and lose the weight.
Believe it or not, she runs into Soryuin Akemi who also attends the same school. She is a health freak after Hibiki tries to interact with her. She is also into seeing muscles as well. As expected, there are a good number of buff men working out. Yes, it seems that Doga Kobo is good at drawing people with ripped muscles considering that they also worked on Uzamaid.
Aside from that, the training coach is somewhat annoying. Yes, Akemi and initially Hibiki fawn over him. He looks so generic and somewhat annoying, although he kind of looks like Haruka from Free, but probably even more buffed. They basically photoshopped a head of a prince on a macho man’s body. Hibiki seeing his muscles causes her to become turned off. Hopefully we will see less of him, but it can potentially become a turnoff for those who enjoy school girl slice of life comedies.
Either way, it seems that Hibiki overworked herself on the first day. Yes, lifting the rod was heavy, although Akemi had no trouble at all. It becomes noticeable when Hibiki had trouble standing up from muscle pain during class. The ironic thing is that she is still eating a lot of meals after the first day of workout. Her friend is freaking out that Hibiki’s clothes looks tight from gaining all that weight. The funny thing is that Akemi also asks Hibiki about her eating habits. Somehow, it has the opposite effect as she thinks this is a good thing. Yes, it’s because it involves muscles.
The second day, Hibiki did squats and of course, that is too much for her, especially when she overdoes it. It makes me wonder how she will survive all of this. I suppose she will get used to it. After all, it took a while for Tsubame to get all those muscles. Still, I guess Hibiki finally realizes that she joined the wrong gym. Overall, I still have mixed feelings about this show, mostly because of the trainer. Either way, the first episode was mildly enjoyable.
