At last, the Crimson Vow took care of all the bandits and made it to their destination. However, it seems that they overlooked something.
From last time, Crimson Vow drove away all the bandits and successfully fulfilled their mission. At last, they arrived at Amaroth, a city near the Albarn Empire’s border. It seems that the grandfather’s granddaughter, Anne is happy to see her grandfather again. I have to admit that Anne is adorable. I can see why the grandfather said that Pauline kind of looks like his granddaughter. They have similar hairstyle, hair color and eyes.
While the grandfather wants to show Mile and her friends around town, an assignment came up. In short, Mile and her friends ended up exploring the town on their own. I have to admit it’s funny how Mile wanted to buy bunch of wood carvings to decorate the team’s new room. Of course, Pauline used her sadistic tendencies to compel Mile to return the goods for a refund. I guess Mile’s frivolous spending won’t work on her watch.
However, it seems that news that the bandits attacked again worries Mile and her friends, especially Reina. Apparently, a bunch of bandits wiped out everyone and look the goods. After hearing what happened from one of the survivors, Reina became enraged, especially for the fact that Anne’s grandfather might be dead. It’s understandable to see why she feels that way since she went through this. However, she decides to take things in her own hands.
During the night, Reina eventually found the perpetrators in the forest. She tried attacking them, but it didn’t quite work. She thought she was done for until Mile and her friends came to rescue her.
It’s understandable why Reina is enraged. She doesn’t want the same to happen to Anne. Of course, Reina is risking her life by doing this and possibly losing her new family. After all, she doesn’t want to lose her friends. Thankfully, Mile slaps Reina in the cheeks to bring her back to her senses. After all, her friends would be sad if she lost her life for being reckless.
Aside from that, it seems that the bandits found them. The funny thing is that Mile and her friends realize that the bandits are just fake. The leader apparently has military forces and mages to pretend. In reality, he manages the Albarn Empire’s military. There is obviously an ulterior motive as they want to limit trade. They killed people to cover it up and sacrifice the innocent to achieve their goals. They are willing to do it even if someone exposes their scheme, which can potentially lead to a war.
In the end, Mile and her friends beaten down the Albarn Empire’s military without any trouble. I find it funny how Reina beaten the mage who use his ice magic to defect her attack. Sure, the leader wants Reina to kill him. In the end, while she used Hellfire on him, she doesn’t actually kill him. After all, it’s probably not worth turning him into a martyr. It’s better to see him face justice and suffer the consequences.
In the end, the fake bandits are finally arrested. While Anne seems worried about her grandfather, he miraculously returned. Apparently, he was standing in the forest when the fake bandits killed the merchants. He managed to escape after remembering his granddaughter’s promise.
Despite the casualties, things ended well. Will Tils avenge these killings by staring a war? Time will only tell as Mile and her friends heads back to their base. At least Reina now knows that revenge is not always the best option, even if the perpetrators commit atrocities. As the saying goes, two wrongs don’t make a right.
As someone in the comments over at my pad said Mile might eventually let slip her true origin story.
Glad Reina was able to find a way to calm her rage thanks to her friends.
Granddaughter was precious.
I doubt that Mile would go into god mode given that it kind of ruined her first set of friends and making things a bit too suspicious.
Still, it’s good that Reina didn’t burnt the guy to a crisp. As they say, two wrongs do not make a right and of course, he would get off a bit too easy. But yes, the granddaughter is adorable.
