Another year went by so quickly. It has been yesterday since I wrote my 14th-anniversary post back in 2023. Today is Chikorita157’s Anime Blog’s 15th anniversary. Yes, my blog is basically a teenager now. It has gone a long way since I started the blog 15 years ago when I just started college.

Believe it or not, today marks the 14th anniversary of Anime Blogging. It’s so long since I started my blog in 2009, during my first year of college. While my tastes in Anime have changed over the years, I primarily focus on schoolgirl slice of life and Yuri anime. Also, in 2011, I started my Japanese language studies.

With the talk of Elon Musk buying Twitter and the adverse effects, people wonder what the alternative places to talk about anime are? After all, Musk has a history of silencing his critics, and I can see why some are concerned. However, the question remains on who owns the platform and if some egotistical millionaire will come in and ruin the platform to allow hate speech and harassment.
Starting your anime blog may be a worthwhile experience for those looking for an alternative to Twitter. Irina and Jacob have shared their own reasons for creating one. Still, it’s always good to share other perspectives, especially from someone who has done it for 13 years straight.

As expected, another year has flown by and here we are. Sure, my twelfth year of blogging faced a lot of difficulties with the lack of engagement in terms of comments. While it was frustrating, how did the thirteenth year of blogging fare? A lot better than expected and hoped.

With February coming to an end, it’s time to share my thoughts on posts that I found interesting during the past month.
Also, I want to address my anime blogging frustrations as I am becoming increasingly upset. This is mostly due to the lack of comments, people not following directions of not to like posts on WordPress Reader, but instead leave a comment, promoting my content on social media, or linking it back. I’m just really frustrated after 5 years of my blog stagnating and not growing at all. While I have touched on some of this in my anniversary post, but I want to share my overall thoughts.

It’s that time of year again as every year, I always do the 12 Days of Anime thing every year. This year has been a particularly rough year. Instead of talking about some of the depressing aspects of the year such as Covid19 delaying anime and Aniplex USA shutting down the English server for Magia Record, I want to keep things positive.

Now that it’s finally June, the rather desolate spring season thanks to Covid19 is coming to an end.
After the breakdown I had on Twitter, I want to change things up to perhaps improve the content of this blog. Since I usually do some kind of life updates on season previews, I want to do some kind of monthly summary type of posts.
Back in 2013-2015, I shared some kind of updates in a weekly summary of titles I chose not to cover individually. What I tend to do with these monthly posts is to share not only what I am up to and have planned, but also mini editorials on anime-related topics I find interesting during the month but couldn’t write a whole post for. Also, I will also share my picks for this summer, providing that it doesn’t get delayed.

Since I last shared my frustrations, I felt that things were getting a bit better. Sadly, while things got better in terms of comments and such, it didn’t last. Things took a turn for the worst since the start of this year.
With Coronavirus outbreaks in Japan delaying some anime productions with more on the day, this does give me a lot of anxieties of the future of this blog. Not only that, the lack of comments on my recent posts, including my editorials from last month, which are hurting my motivation to blog. In addition, the lack of followers are becoming a sticking point too. What troubles me are the few who I follow are unfollowing me, which is a huge betrayal. I don’t know exactly what I am doing wrong since I do not post anything controversial.
Instead of keeping my frustrations in, I want to share them. Also I want to receive feedback from the readers on what areas to improve the engagement on this blog before I completely burn myself out. Hear me out.

While things have been chaotic this month with the whole coronavirus scare. As expected, things haven’t been going well with my blog. In fact, losing motivation again. I will share my concerns along with my preliminary picks for the spring season.

Believe it or not, I have been so busy between the move, adjusting to my new place and new job that I forgot that my blog turned 11 years old (started February 17, 2009). This makes me wonder how long I have been doing this for. By now, a good amount of people who were blogging about anime back when I started in 2009 have pretty much moved on. With that, I would like to reflect on the last year of blogging and focus on the future.
