Just a few days ago, a blog post at the Behind the Nihon Review had myself thinking about the usefulness of the three-episode test I have been using for the past three seasons and questioning the rationale of dropping Anime. As we all know, fans have different tastes and expectations when it comes to the shows they watch. After I took a look of the three episode taste tests and the number of shows I dropped in the past two years, its quite obvious that dropping Anime is rather difficult for myself and I haven’t found a good reason to do so (Image Source).

Review: Pokémon White
For a long time, Pokémon has been one of the most influential franchises that got me interested in Anime. Ever since I played Pokémon Blue back in the late 90s, the games have refined themselves during the years.
After reviewing Pokemon HeartGold nearly a year ago, Pokémon Black and White, the fifth generation of Pokémon were released two months ago bringing stunning graphics, eye catching battle animations, new game mechanics, Pokémon and story. Since I played over 200 hours of Pokémon White, I felt that it’s finally time to share my thoughts about the game overall. (Image Source)

Anime and Japanese Music… and Favorite Artists – 1 Year Later
For a long time, I have an interest in music ever since I played Piano and Clarinet when I was in high school. When I started to watch Anime again back in 2008, I have already established an interest towards Japanese music with Pokémon that simply grew beyond what I have listened to.
Several months after I posted my favorite artists last year, I guest reviewed several Anime related singles on Anime Instrumentality Blog. In addition, I have listened to other singers’ songs, which kind of redefined my perceptions of Anime Music a bit more. So, further ado, I want to share my updated favorite artists and music I have listened up to now (Image Source).

Reflection: 1 Year of AniBlog Tourney… Aniblogosphere’s Death is highly exaggerated.
I can’t believe a whole year has passed by with the Aniblog Tourney happening 1 year ago. If you are new to the Aniblogsphere, the Aniblog Tourney was a competition with 96 blogs being assigned to a specific division in pairs randomly. When the poll for each division opens, people look at both blogs and then vote for the better blog to go on to the next round. While the tournament is mostly a popularity contest towards the end, it allowed for constructive criticism, which was helpful for bloggers to improve their blogs.
The competition between my blog and Anime Princess was a very close one with a few percentages off from losing. Ever since the Aniblog Tourney, I have taken an initiative to improve my writing, the blog design and accessibility. Eventually, I brought a domain name and moved to paid hosting several months later to make a bigger presence in the blogosphere. (Image Source)

Hourou Musuko – Innocence, Acceptance and Betrayal… (Editorial)
Preface: Hourou Musuko besides Madoka Magica has been one of few shows out of the winter season, which are considered very good. The reason why I have not blogged much about this show since the content in the episodes is hard to explain in episodic posts. So, I thought it would be best to share my thoughts on the events that were important in editorial form.
In the most recent episodes of Hourou Musuko, the story focuses more on the issues Nitori faces in his life that wants to be a girl. Since he is delicate, anything that happens to him will impact him emotionally. This happens when Dori urges him to come out of the closet that causes the whole student body to become shocked. In addition, the play and Anna plays an important role of adding self-confidence for Nitori’s transgenderism.

Names You Know in Anime – Pokemon White Nickname Analysis – Part I
Some people in the aniblogosphre nickname the Pokémon after favorite Anime Characters, friends, etc. I have started to nickname some of the Pokémon in Pokémon Platinum, but not on a large scale until HeartGold. Since I have created my preliminary team in Pokemon White, I may as well explain some of the nicknames I picked for some of the Pokémon I use for competitive battling. (Image Source)

Madoka Magica – In Memory of Sakura Kyoko, a Tribute.
Most of you should know that Kyoko is no longer with us after she faceed a battle with Sayaka who became a witch. Kyoko is one of my favorite characters in Madoka Magica since she is strong willed and kind in the inside. Therefore, I want to give a tribute to Kyoko for being kind and strong person who genuinely cares about Sayaka. (Image Source)

For Fun: Everybody Hates Kyubey™
Oh Kyubey, you look so cute with the never changing cat smile. After Mami’s death, a lot of people including myself started to question Kyubey’s motives. Some people took it a step further and think that Kyubey is the devil, thus creating intensive hate. While I don’t agree with his views on morality, I want to explore some of the possible reasons why Everybody Hates Kyubey™ thus far. (Image Source)

Winter 2011 Midseason Impressions
With the middle of the Winter Anime Season upon us, the season was mixed. There are some really great shows that I really enjoyed like Madoka Magica and Hourou Musuko. On the other hand, Gosick and Fractale left me with a weird feeling with the way the show is heading. (Image Source)

Winter 2011 Anime Season Taste Test Score Card
Since the taste testing of the Winter 2011 Anime is coming to an end, the winter season is actually decent. Out of the 15 of so series that were airing, I decided to watch Madoka, Gosick and Hourou Musuko. In addition, I also tried out Rio: Rainbow Gate, but it didn’t turn out that great. (Image Source)

Tantei Opera Milky Holmes – Final Review
Tantei Opera Milky Holmes is probably one of the most unexpected gems in the Fall 2010 season. While the first episode gave me a mediocre impression, it only got better with every episode. On top of that, you have these wacky heroes that do really funny cute things. In addition, you got the absolutely hilarious villains, especially Twenty who can’t keep off his shirt. Besides from that, I want to share my thoughts about Milky Holmes as a complete season. (Image Source)

Reverse Thieves Secret Santa 2010 Review – Haibane Renmei
Once upon a time there is a Secret Santa Project hosted by Reverse Thieves in the Anime Blogosphere. This projects works by sending your application with your list of Anime you have watched and like. On the other side, a person receives your list and suggests three shows to watch and you pick one to review. Most of you have already seen the list of Anime I have suggested at my side blog, Shiori’s Diary. From the list of shows I was suggested, I decided to watch Haibane Renmei, which is a 2002 slice of life Anime made by Radix. (Image Source)

Twelve Moments in Anime 2010 – #7 – Ookami-san and the cute Tsundere Wolf
In the 7th Anime Moment for this year, I will be focusing on Ookami-san. While I have some mixed feelings about the show, it was rather entertaining since it had a really violent tsundere named Ookami Ryoko. While not too different from other tsundere stories that JC Staff makes, it has fairy tale characters as its cast, which made it pretty interesting. (Image Source)

Thoughts about Bill 156 and Why the Law is Censoring like it’s 1984.

If you have known already, Tokyo pass the very controversial ordinance, Bill 156, which is also known as the “Nonexistant Youth Bill” that have strong support. However, this bill has been called an act of censorship and an apocalypse for the Anime Industry as a whole. While I think the bill is overblown by a certain tabloid blog in the Anime Blogosphere, I still think that this bill is very destructive to the industry and it’s an excuse to promote government-sponsored censorship. Twelve Moments in Anime 2010 – #8 – Angel Beats, the TsunTsun Anime
Angel Beats was a rather unique show even though the execution was so tsundere that it was not even funny. The show was pretty interesting with girls with guns, fighting against other people and learning about the heroes’/heroines’ tragic memories. Therefore, this makes it the 8th Anime Moment in our countdown to Christmas.

Twelve Moments in Anime 2010 – #9 – Kobato and Sweet Drama
I have to admit, Kobato was one of the sweetest love stories from CLAMP I have seen from 2009-2010. This makes it the 9th Anime Moment with our countdown to Christmas. (Image Source)

Nogizaka Haruka and Ore no Imouto… Two different worlds on the Otaku Subculture.

I have always wondered about the themes Ore no Imouto covered since it was a topic that has been done in the past, but not well executed. Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu covered only the surface of the Otaku subculture but only to throw it out of the window in the second season.
While there are some resemblances of the two shows, they are significantly different. The difference between them is what I want to cover. (Original Image)

Amagami SS – Rihoko Sakuri’s Arc – Final Impressions
Friendzoned FOREVER? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Basically this is the reaction from all the viewers after the concusion of Rihoko’s arc. In my opinion, Rihoko deserved better. How come all the other girls win Junichi over and childhood friends lose most of the time? Why can’t it be like Kanon where the childhood friend wins all the time? It’s really sad since she had a really good friends and a cute personality… I feel sorry for her since she would probably be lonely for the rest of her life since her relationship will be nothing more than just friends.
Overall, Rihoko’s arc was okay, but the ending seems more like a melancholic ending more than a happy ending seen with the other girls. Sure it was enjoyable with loli Miya, Rihoko’s clumsiness and Junichi’s perverseness. Sadly, she didn’t succeed and I think Junichi doesn’t deserve her because of it. Shame on him!
Hopefully Tsukasa’s arc will make the show redeem itself from its poorly executed arcs… Otherwise, I have nothing else to say.

7.5/10. C

Guest Review – Otome Youkai Zakuro – MOON SIGNAL OP Review

As you might know already… I loved “MOON SIGNAL,” which is one of the best openings in the Fall 2010 Anime Season. This review only took a few hours to write since there wasn’t that much to nick picking compared to the previous singles such as MM! OP review and K-ON! 2 Yui Character Single. While “MOON SIGNAL” remains the best song out of sphere, “Now Loading… SKY!!” remains my second favorite. Also, the B-side in “Now Loading… SKY!!” is a bit better than “Climax Whistle.” So enjoy the review of “MOON SIGNAL” and be sure to share your thoughts about the single at the Anime Instrumentality Blog.

Twelve Moments in Anime 2010 – #12 – Sora no Woto and the Fascination of Dolphins

In our first moment of Anime in 2010, we are taking a look at Dolphins and Sora no Woto…
So, why the obsession over dolphins? Human beings define dolphins as a friendly mammal that have intelligence that rivals humans… but are they? Kanata doesn’t think so.

Midseason Impressions – Ookami-san – Taming the Wolf
Ore no Imouto – Episode 8 – This Episode can’t be so Meta!
The too long, didn’t read In-depth look at myself as an Anime Fan (Updated)
Just recently, Yumeka shared her really large list of questions describing herself as a fan. Others have done it too and it seemed interesting. As a result, I gave it a try. It took several hours to answer all the questions, so hopefully you will enjoy. Also, excuse me if some of the answers have rough grammar, considering that this was petty long. So, I would like to present the whole list of questions and answers so many bloggers and fans can learn about me.
