Since 2019 is finally coming to an end, it’s time to take a look at the top five shows for this year since I only completed 14 titles this year. We will also take a look briefly at the top ten shows of the decade. As always, this list is subjective.

My Anime Music Tournament Picks
Unless you are living under the rock, a fellow blogger named zzeroparticle who runs the Anime Instrumentality Blog has created the first tournament for Anime Music. If you like listening to Anime Music like I do, go ahead and nominate your favorite songs. But in this post, I’m going to discuss the top ten songs I nominated. As always, my picks are subjective so you don’t have to agree with them.
So, what criteria did I use for my nomination ballot? First, I only considered opening, insert songs and ending themes for shows I have watched and listened. Second, I also factor in how good the song sounds along with how memorable and enjoyable the song for my nominations. While my choices are biased for recent Anime, hopefully you won’t judge me.
With that, I will share the top 5 picks I nominated for the tournament first with some arrangements on the piano. (Image Source)

Disney Princesses vs Females in Anime – The Problem with Damsel in Distress
Last weekend, I have watched Nostalgia Critic’s video on the princess hate. After watching it, I think he has a point since this trope exists in all types of media. The problem lies with Damsel in distress, which became a negative stereotype for females because it’s over usage. In particular, Disney Princesses tend to play this trope a lot, which is a bad representation of how women are portrayed in real life.
In Anime, it’s the opposite most of the time since some female characters take a bigger role. This is the main difference compared to Disney Princesses. (Image Source)

The Best and Worst of 2012 Anime
As 2012 finally comes to an end, I felt that this year is rather subdued for Anime. Although there were some Anime that received some rave reviews that I didn’t watch, I was still satisfied by what I have already watched. Not only that, I only dropped one show this year compared to two in 2011. Still, there were some disappointments, which I want to go over.
For now, I will list my top whatever lists of best Anime in 2012 along with some disappointing/worst ones. (Image Source)

Tiger Moms and Eagle Dads – Strict Parenting in Anime
Just recently, something has come into my mind about how parents raise their children in Anime after watching the 8th episode of Tari Tari. With the stereotype of Asian parents wanting their children to succeed such as the Tiger Mom and Eagle Dad, some of these stereotypes are also present in Anime. This is because Asian countries typically value education a lot, which is why they tend to rank high on science and math. For that, I’m going to explain what these terms mean with examples from various shows. (Image Source)

Weekly Anime Rankings & Digest – December 19-25
Well, I hope everyone had a nice Christmas. For me, not much has happened except my parents and sister watched a few movies while I play with video games and my new iPhone. Of course, one of those games I finally get a chance to play with is of course アイドルマスター2 on the Playstation 3. Yep, it’s that game, which the anime is based on and I have to say that I’m impressed with it so far. Although my Japanese skills needs more work, the girls looked cute and most importantly, it’s a fun game (except the know fact that I suck at the dance lessons). Still, I won’t write my first impressions until I get further into the game, which might take a week. Nevertheless, I’ll keep everyone posted.
If you are curious on what I’m producing, the unit name is “Flower Princess” (花姫), which consists of Takane (Leader), Haruka and Mami.

Weekly Anime Rankings & Digest – December 12-18
Since finals are over, I can finally relax. With Christmas coming upon us in six more days, I still have unfinished business such as the Secret Santa Anime, which is collecting dust and the last part of the 12 Days of Anime Project. Hopefully they will get done in the next three days so I can end of the year editorials and of course, games.
Just as a notice, because of Christmas lands on a weekend this year, Fate/zero Episode 13 post will get delayed until Monday. Otherwise, enjoy the Secret Santa posts as they come this Saturday (Image Source).
