World Dai Star – Episode 11 – Kokona’s Recollects the Forgotten Promise

June 18, 2023 by Chikorita157 3 Comments
Shizuka takes her to a familar place.

After Shizuka contemplates wanting to perform on the same stage, thanks to Yae, she decides to take Kokona to a special place. We learn more about how Shizuka existed and how Kokona got her sense.

As to where Shizuka took Kokona, they returned to Kokona’s hometown near the beach. There, we learn more about Kokona and what it has to do with Shizuka. Believe it or not, Shizuka didn’t pop out of nowhere after Kokona failed her audition. There is more to the Shizuka story that she wants Kokona to remember.

Believe it or not, Kokona’s dream of becoming a World Dai Star happened way earlier than Kokona thinks it is. Shizuka finally helps her remember what she had forgotten. Kokona was a little girl who loved picture books and stories that her parents told her. She was captivated by their performance when she went to a theatrical performance. She went to see various shows and acted them out.

It’s obvious how Shizuka was born. It’s out of Kokona’s loneliness and wanting someone to act with.

Sadly, Kokona had to move to a rural town that didn’t have a theater and going there took a long time, even if she saved money to attend one. With her parents being at work most of the time, Kokona felt lonely since it was hard for her to make friends. One day during elementary school, she found a place that could bring the dream world back to her.

Despite remembering the plays she acted in, Kokona’s loneliness never disappeared until her sense was born. With that, she meets a young blue-haired girl, which is Shizuka. She loves acting too and wants to do it together. Shizuka knows all the plays Kokona saw and her ambitions to become a World Dai Star. There is no surprise Shizuka was the better actor.

The reason Kokona forgot all of this is because she couldn’t control her sense yet. This is why Kokona could only see Shizuka and nobody else. When her feelings improved, Shizuka eventually became sentient and visible to everyone.

Shizuka shows her desire to perform on stage, yet she wouldn’t.

You might wonder why Shizuka wants Kokona to remember how they met and her dream of becoming a World Dai Star. With that, is this her goodbye moment to Kokona? While Shizuka shared her desire to be on stage since she is the better actor. However, she can’t believe that means getting in the way of Kokona’s dream. Since Shizuka embodies Kokona’s aspirations and desires to become a World Dai Star, she obviously couldn’t interfere. As a result, she decides to return these feelings to her.

Kokona becomes upset after Shizuka gave her feelings and disappeared.

However, Kokona doesn’t want Shizuka to do it. Maybe she remembers something that Shizuka knew but won’t tell her. Shizuka believes that by acting on stage with Kokona, she would be stealing the spotlight, hence the dream from Kokona. Eventually, Shizuka merges with Kokona as she disappears. Kokona was in tears, which was a pretty saddening moment.

While Kokona is late, her determination to win the audition is in her eyes.
Kokona’s and Shizuka’s senses combined.

As for the audition, Kokona was late, and Kathrina was not in a good state. However, Kokona shows up. Despite having points deducted, Kokona gave a performance of Phantom that even surpassed Kathrina’s. After all, it’s easy to see why given her childhood loneliness experiences, until Shizuka showed up. Also, it shows how much she has grown from her first performance until now. We see that Kokona’s eyes are two different colors, revealing the true strength of her Senses with Shizuka’s combined.

Kathrina feels down after Kokona beaten her in the audition.

While it’s sad to see Kathrina cry as she wears an eyepatch on her right eye. Still, it’s not surprising to see this result as Kokona gave a performance of Phantom that was complex and not just an extension of Noa’s performance. However, Kokona feels down.

Kokona still feels down after the audition. Of course, Shamo is there to help her.

After talking to Shamo, Kokona revealed that she feels down, with Shizuka disappearing into her heart. Shamo helped Kokona find the last piece of the puzzle key to fully understanding herself.

Kokona remembers the missing part of Shizuka she forgot. Their promise to become World Dai Star and perform as one together. Do you think Shizuka will come back and perform the role of Christine?

After, she sits in front of an empty chair and asks her other self why she wants to become a World Dai Star. Her younger self said it was because she enjoyed theater and would lose hope if she was alone, thus, she needed Shizuka, and they made a promise. The promise was for both Kokona and Shizuka to become World Dai Stars and take the stage together.

With that, there is no wonder Shizuka wants to perform on stage, too, despite choosing not to. Now it’s up to Kokona to try to bring Shizuka back with help rehearsing with her friends. Believe it or not, they support this idea since they said they are her friends.

It appears that Kokona wants help from her friends to bring Shizuka back. Will she return? We’ll see in the finale.

Still, I must admit that Kokona remembering the promise she made with Shizuka and how she came to existence reminds me of Suzune’s soul searching for why she wanted to become an idol. Like how Akari supports Suzune by cheering her on, it’s up to Kokona to return the favor to Shizuka, who helped get her to where she is. Hopefully, Shizuka will reappear so Kokona and Shizuka can become World Dai Stars together. We’ll find out for sure in the finale. Still, I feel that Kokona and Shizuka are the pairings that probably won for obvious reasons.

Glad we got the full story behind Shizuka. Very sad she disappeared in order to permanently fuse with Kokona and awaken her true power.

Hopefully she’ll become a World Dai Star and revive her eventually.

Fingers crossed we get Phantom Kokona and Christine Kathrina. It’ll definitely cheer us up.

Yes, it’s a downer that Shizuka is willing to fuze herself with Kokona, without realizing that promise. My guess is without Kokona having her full power of her sense, she will only have half of the potential, probably not enoug, but we’ll see.
