Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight – Episodes 4-6 – Runaway Dates, Green Eyed Mahiru, and The Unbreakable Promise

July 23, 2020 by Chikorita157 Leave a Comment

Karen really had a bad dream after she lost.

After Karen lost against Maya last time, Hikari gave Karen a big slap of reality. Before Karen knew it, Hikari mysteriously disappears. Meanwhile, the sense of Invidia inside Mahiru develops as Karen focuses almost all her time with Hikari.

Last time, it’s obvious that Karen disappointed Hikari by losing against Maya. When Karen told Hikari that she lost, she slapped her in the face and called her an idiot. After Karen woke up, Hikari disappeared. Yes, Karen losing the revue against Maya really disappoints Hikari so much that she left.

I like how Claudine freaked out when Karen snuck up on her while she looked at photoes of Maya.
Karen isn’t giving up on her search for Hikari.

With that, I have to admit that it’s funny to see a panicked Karen as she looks for Hikari. She eventually calls her. While she gives a hint where she is, she ran around everywhere. Yes, she went to a good number of aquariums looking for her after Hikari provided several hints. Yep, she used quite a lot of money. Still, I have a feeling that Hikari enjoys taunting Karen

Hikari going sightseeing.
Sadly, Karen and Hikari went at the wrong time.

Eventually, Hikari eventually responded to Karen. She finally asks why Karen lost. Yep, she gave some excuses and Hikari called Karen an idiot again. However, something has changed. She asks her what they should do. They talked to each other about that promise and the show that they saw together during their childhood. Eventually, they reunited at the famous tower in Tokyo, which is a major site for dates. Sadly, they couldn’t go up since it closed for the day.

They are together at last.

Yep, it seems that Hikari wanted to see jellyfish. Either way, we find out why Hikari acted cold towards Karen. Yes, she knew that Karen wasn’t ready. But now that Karen knows that Hikari still remember the promise, she won’t lose again. After all, if she loses again, she is out of the auditions for good. Not only that, Hikari mentions that Karen will lose the most important thing of a stage girl if she doesn’t win. Still, I wonder that the thing that Hikari is talking about. Despite this, Karen is confident that she and Hikari can pass the auditions together as they stand on top of the slide near the tower together.

Another nice moment with Maya and Claudine.
Claudine really fooled the teacher this time.

Meanwhile, it’s funny how Mahiru came up with a nice plan to slide by the room checks in the evening. Yes, the homeroom teacher didn’t know. I have to admit that the girls are clever to make sure the teacher didn’t know that Karen and Hikari is missing. When Hikari and Karen came back, the teacher saw through the façade and decides to punish them.

The girls are happy that Karen and Hikari is back.

In other words, they are doing hard core traditional training. This makes you wonder, was this worth it. It seems that it is now that Karen is now working even harder so that she won’t lose ever again. Yes, she wants to make that promise she made with Hikari a reality.

Mahiru’s worst fears have come. Karen abandons her for Hikari.
Believe it or not, this gets worse from here for Mahiru.

As for the next episode, we see Karen putting more effort in improving her skills. Meanwhile, Mahiru, who yearns for the past when she performed on stage with Karen in a role together see her bonds with her breaking up. I mentioned this earlier, but with Hikari in the picture, she is afraid that she is losing her bonds with Karen. This is not too surprising since she doesn’t have much confidence. This even shows on that old DVD recording from her grandmother.

Mahiru really wants to sniff the towel that Karen used. Her jealousy towards Hikari prevented her from doing it.
She also wanted to do an indirect kiss using Karen’s water bottle.
Yes, Hikari is not having it.

Yes, the jealousy inside of Mahiru has reached a fever pitch as she unleashes the green-eyed monster inside her. Still, I have to admit that it’s funny to see her attempt to do an indirect kiss. Yes, one with the towel, a pillow and a water bottle that Karen used. When she thought about doing it, Hikari comes. She attempts to throw the item that she tried to sniff at Hikari, but misses. At the locker room, she snaps at Hikari demanding to give back her spot. The spot is obvious.

Mahiru finally goes love crazy for Karen.

But, believe it or not, it’s not Hikari that Mahiru faces off in the 4th day of auditions. It’s Karen, the crush that Mahiru has on her. The theme is, well jealousy as Karen runs away from a scary and lovesick Mahiru who is chasing after her.  Karen tries to convince Mahiru that she has something. She likes how Mahiru sings, dances, her enthusiasm and kindness.

Karen convincing Mahiru that she still have the shine inside her.

With that, Karen finally defeats Mahiru. Of course, they had a nice dinner with potatoes as they watch Mahiru’s recording from her grandmother. Either way, Mahiru finally finds her resolve and the dream from her middle school self.

Futaba catches Kaoruko sneaking out.
Now, Futaba has to bring Kaoruko home and become her number one fan.

Lastly, we left with the Karouko and Futaba episode. It’s obvious that they are very close to each other. This comes as no surprise since in their flashback, Kaoruko sneaked out and Futaba came and found her. Yes, this is after she danced and created a crowd. It appears that Kaoruko is getting sick of what she is doing. Either way, she wants to make Futaba into a love servant as in giving her treats and being her number 1 fan. In return, she will shine.

An angry Kaoruko when she finds out that she didn’t get the part.
To make things worse, Kaoruko catches Futaba training with Claudine secretly.

Sadly, it seems that things don’t work out as they meant to be. After all, in a few episodes back, Futaba wants to try to aim to become the top star. That is why she is learning from Claudine, which she finds out and doesn’t seem to like. To make things worse, she didn’t even make the cut to audition for the leading role for the festival for lack of passion. This is in despite the committee doing the auditions differently.

Of course, that debacle wasn’t the only sticking point for Kaoruko. The obvious thing that really annoyed her is that Futaba is forgetting about the promise that she made with her. Yes, the promise of her following Kaoruko and pampering her. Sadly, Kaoruko needs to realize that simply having a silver spoon in her mouth does not entitle her for a leading role.

As expected, Futaba had enough of Kaoruko that she decides to move in with Claudine.

As expected, Kaoruko’s relationship with Futaba gets worse from here as Futaba abandons Kaoruko for Claudine. This is after Kaoruko found out that Futaba received training from Claudine behind her back. After all, Futaba shouldn’t outshine Kaoruko.

Kaoruko finally calls it quits.

Either way, Futaba moved into Claudine’s room after she had enough of Kaoruko’s attitude problem. Yes, it gets even worse from here. Kaoruko decides to transfer out of the school abruptly and return to Kyoto. After all, Kaoruko doesn’t believe she has a chance for a leading role in real life and those auditions, which she loses every single one of them. Still, everyone seems sad about her leaving, except for Futaba. Maya questions Kaoruko’s stunt. In short, she tells her that she will probably regret her decision in a way.

Futaba saw though Kaoruko’s plan. Of course, they are fighting again.

Still, I don’t believe that Kaoruko is really going to leave. After remembering what Maya said about the people who support Kaoruko who wants to see the best out of her, she realizes that person is Futaba. She then becomes worried that Futaba won’t get her, until the last moment. As expected, Futaba was next to her as she annoys Kaoruko. I kind of expected this reaction. Still, it’s good that they have a way to settle this.

Kaoruko fakes Futaba out thinking that she is surrendering.
Futaba falls in her trap.

Either way, they settle their differences during the auditions. The reason she worked so hard to get a motorcycle license and to get into the school so she can be with Kaoruko together. Sure, Kaoruko want to make her believe that the main cast suits Futaba than her. Yes, she was ready to forfeit, but Futaba intervenes.

Too bad, it’s just a fake out as it gives Kaoruko the chance to defeat Futaba. Either way, Kaoruko finally wins for the first time as they finally settle their differences. With that, Maya and Claudine are happy with the end result of seeing Kaoruko and Futaba make up with each other. Hopefully, they won’t get into another lover’s quarrel in the future.
