Fractale – Final Episode Impressions

April 3, 2011 by Chikorita157 2 Comments
Dammit Phryne, why you always have to do this with me!

Oh Fractale, why your ending has to be this disappointing?

The #1 Worst Father is right here!

The events leading to the destruction of the Fractale Temple were rather disorganized. Phryne’s departure to the temple makes me wonder, why the hell would she wants to convince her parents? It’s quite obvious that Moeran hates Phryne and wants to strangle the hell out of her. On the other hand, her father is very perverted to the point where he wants to fondle her and have you know what. Considering the track record of the two and their hatred towards the Lost Millennium, there is no way in hell Fractale will have a truce.

Oh man, this bunny is... you know.

On the other hand, the ending where Phryne, Nessa and Clain go up to outer space to reboot Fractale made sense to the overall story.  The god of Fractale is Phryne’s former self, which feels entirely different. Her former self feels more like Nessa, so cheery as seen in the hologram video. The droppel Nessa is mostly based on her stuffed rabbit she played around with when she was a teenager. When she reveals this, I fell out of my seat laughing since it seemed so unbelievable. Essentially, the reboot of Fractale is Nessa and Phryne rejoining to become one again. This reboot will start the gradual transition of becoming normal humans again and become independent of Fractale.

And, they finally reunite...

After a year passed since the reboot, it was nice to see Phryne as her former self to wake up from a slumber. She finally acknowledges that she likes Clain and it was very sweet.

When I watched the last episode, Fractale felt like a big disappointment like Angel Beats. There was so much potential going on with the setting with Fractale, but only to be wasted in the end. The show only skimmed through Clain’s growing affection to Phryne and Nessa being so moe. I felt that the Lost Millennium and Fractale were pushed to the backseat so the producers could focus on these three people. If that were the case, Fractale would probably have a better impact if it were a normal slice of life adventure and not a science fiction show.

The only positive aspects about the show are the sceneries and the OP/ED, which has a mixed reaction from the audience.

Overall Series Rating: 7.4/10, C, Average

I daresay Angel Beats was better.

I agree… Angel Beats have better and memorable characters compared to Fractale’s, which is a pile of meh. Also, the music and animation was better… the only thing holding it back is it’s very inconsistent story, especially with the last few episodes of the series… it just didn’t make any sense whatsoever.
