Nichijou is Kyoani’s third coming of a slice of life story involving a group of girls and more slapstick comedy.
When I watched the first episode, everything seemed to be chaotic and feel somewhat random with a female android exploding, people riding on goats to school and someone activating fire alarms. These were some of the crazy things that happened during the episode. Some of these jokes were rather funny. However, there was one that topped all of them. Like in Lucky Star, Yuuko demonstrates the three-second rule in a more dramatic manner. Her power level went over 9000 when she tries to catch the mini octopus that went through someone’s Mohawk, a baseball mitt until it hit the ground and picked up 1 second after. This was easily the best demonstration of the rule; it applies to anything food related no matter what.

The animation and art style is not as stylish as K-ON, and feels similar to Lucky Star. The colors are rather soft and simplistic that pleases the eyes. While the characters look cute and so moe, they don’t necessarily act that way. To me, the character’s personalities seemed to be toned down a little bit. Then again, I might be wrong if they decide to go crazy with the sugar.
Overall, Nichijou is an enjoyable show that will get better with subsequent episodes. I don’t expect to get used to the comedy right the first time. As long the jokes are good, I will keep watching.
