You would have thought that Soutarou would win this round with Misaki hating Usui forever. The spell did not work since Misaki stayed up from Usui saying irritating things. As a result, Misaki gives Soutarou the harshest punishment ever! Have him work with a group of girls, every boy’s dream, except for Soutarou.
Its open house for students that are considering to attend the high school. The girls decide to have a cosplay cafe with girls wearing cute outfits. Soutarou with his uneasiness around females is forced to help them to get forgiveness from Misaki. In that process, Soutarou experiences the true nature of girls that contradict his views about girls in general. After all, Soutarou is basically a gender-bent version of Misaki without the tsundere tendencies.
In contrast to Misaki’s father leaving the whole family behind, Soutarou’s mother left him as a child because his father was a big jerk. His father, who is a former pro wrestler tells that women are fragile and weak. In reality, it’s the opposite when he realizes that girls are very capable, nice and strong. After he helped a girl who feared men by ridding her fear through hypnotism, his views about them change drastically. In contrast to Inami from Working, the bad influences from her father caused Inami’s fear for men. In Soutarou’s situation, like with Inami’s father, they are ruining the child’s future since they need to get along with both genders. If they don’t, they cannot interact properly in society when they grow up to adulthood.
In order to help solve his fear of girls, the episode presents us with feminists views. Females are not depicted as weak and fragile, but the opposite when Soutarou to gradually warm up to girls. This allowed him eventually overcome his childhood fears of females leaving him. In contrast, Misaki gone through the same process with her general dislike of males and change drastically with an incident during the festival. It just needed one event to solve the problem and it worked.
Besides for Soutarou, I found this episode rather good. The girls simply looked gorgeous in the outfits that the cafe became a big success. Like with the last few episodes, we see Yukimura in a blue dress… He crossdressed so many times that he could possibly become the best trap in the whole show besides Aoi-chan. However, I have a feeling that they gotten away from the maid cafe setting and focused so much outside of it. That would change very soon as the next episodes will bring back the maid cafe on a beach!
