Most often times you will normally see a girl or a boy cook rather delicious food… for example, Akiko’s cooking (except the Jam…) and Usui’s “moe moe omelet” as shown in Episode 4. However, there is a dark side of good cooking… horrible tasting food! Food that doesn’t taste right or tastes funny. Not all cooks are created equal, but I will focus on some instances of horrible cooking in Anime I had watched so far.

The nastiest example of horrible tasting food is from the twin-tailed Tsundere named Nagi from Hayate no Gotoku First Season… She used half-cooked sushi rice and detergent (yes, mistaken from oil)… That is one nasty combination… and also, she made a big mess out of the kitchen… Remember, detergent is not a food item and don’t try this in real life… or it might not turn out great.

Akiko is very good at cooking… except her Jam, which is a yellowy substance that gives out a very weird, bad tasting taste. Stay completely away from this Jam… I mean it… It tastes really bad that it should be outlawed in countries! Too bad Nayuki, Yuuichi, Makoto and Ayu didn’t avoid this wrath of Akiko’s Jam… Not only that…How about…

It becomes very deadly when we combine it with…

Damn, it looks pretty, but its very harmful because it tastes so bad, especially combined with Akiko’s Jam. One bite will make a person pass out for hours. It did just that and it wasn’t a treat after all… Not only that, it also applied to…

In the Kanon Drama CD, Kanon Minase-sanchi, Yuuichi invites Sayuri and Mai for Nabe… and guess what Akiko puts into the recipe… The JAM! Yes… I think this one is going to taste horrible… like the jam itself… As always, Yuuichi goes in panic mode since he knows how bad the jam taste like.

Ayu… Just Ayu…. She manages to burn cookies, eggs, toast and make coffee improperly… If I had someone like Ayu as my wife… I better start learning how to cook… Uguu~
Not only that, Yuuichi in the Drama CDs outright says that Akiko’s food tastes better and that Ayu’s food doesn’t taste good. Ayu in retaliation forces him to clean the table… Pretty harsh…
As shown on the first picture of the post, Sanae’s bread was never that good… and Tomoya always seem to tell the truth and she runs out in tears with Akio stuffing her bread in his mouth and saying he loves it… It is basically the running gag of the show…
Sanae: “My bread… is… trash material!?!?” *runs off crying*
Akio: *stuffs said bread into his mouth and chases after her* “I LOVE IIIITTT!!!”
And lastly… there is the cooking from Kagami…

Although Tsukasa is the ditsy one, she is a good cook and with the chocolates on Valentines Day, they looked perfect… Kagami on the other hand… not so much as a good cook. I find it ironic since the Hiiragi Twins almost looked like the Fujibayashi twins, except that the source materials were made in different years and the opposite. Kyou is the better cook and Ryou is…

In the visual novel, Ryou’s cooking gets better as time goes on… but at Kyou’s expense.
As the examples I have shared, these are pretty nasty food that I wouldn’t even touch for a minute… As we know, all cooks are not created equal… Perhaps they need more cooking lesson or perhaps it is a trait… Anyways, in a poll I made just for fun back last year, I asked people if they wanted to eat Akiko’s Jam or watch Endless Eight Endlessly… Most took the Jam… I guess people aren’t that masochistic.

There was also a running joke in Hanasakeru Seishonen in which Kajika makes some sort of stew. This is apparently the only thing she “knows” how to cook, and those who know her, know to disappear, if possible, when she decides to cook. She considers the stew “hearty”, so she often feeds it to those who are ill (and, therefore can not escape).
Oh God, not the Jam. I don’t even think Mai could survive the jam. Demons are nothing compared to this. 😮
