As the Union Festival and summer come to a close, the respective kingdoms throw their own farewell ceremonies as the heroes return to earth.
Compared to last season’s finale, this one ended on a cheerful note rather than feeling of sadness. Since the ability to return to Flonyard is already set in stone, everyone is at ease and awaits their return in the fall. Even with that, they are already hinting for another season some time in the future given the show’s popularity from the missing hero crystal. Apparently, Nanami never got one even though Adelaide is working on it.
However, there is one thing that intrigued me about Shinku’s romantic life. Cou asked him if he would marry Millhi, Becky or both. It’s an interesting question since he hasn’t made up his mind about the two girls that have romantic feelings for him. The only problem is that he cannot marry both of them (unless Flonyard permits polygamy) and must choose one. Even so, him hugging Millhi while lying in bed was adorable and heartwarming. Not only that, it seems that Becky suddenly has a fighting chance as she let down her hair and even let him call her “Rebecca.” While it’s a bit too much for the two to handle, I hope Shinku’s love life progresses in some shape or form when they return.
Final Thoughts
While the animation stays the same, the second season of Dog Days is a big improvement compared to the first season. In fact, I enjoyed every moment of it not because of the new characters, but it’s filled with a lot of light-hearted moments such as Nanami taking down the demonic rabbits, age draining rats, and Shinku/Yuuki swapping bodies with each other in addition to the recreational war. The character development was also a big improvement. They focused on the new characters while revealing more stuff for the existing ones stuff like Yuuki’s childhood and Hina’s knighthood along with her lost brother. However, it’s sad that Nanami got less time in the spotlight compared to Shinku and Becky in the latter half of the season. Despite this flaw, I really enjoyed the second season and I look forward for a third season if they decide to make one.
Overall Rating: 8.6/10, B, Very Good
they are making a 3rd season btw
I’m well aware of that as mentioned in my final review.
