You might wonder where I did on X (formerly Twitter). I don’t want to be on Elon’s site anymore. While I intended to keep the Twitter account permanently private, with the TOS changes coming up, I decided to finally nuke my Twitter account permanently. In fact, I announced this a few weeks back due to Twitter planning to train tweets for AI.
You might be wondering where you can find me now that my Twitter account is gone. You have two choices, the Fediverse, which you should probably use and BlueSky.
On the Fediverse/Mastodon/Misskey (Preferred)
The Fediverse will be where I will make all my posts. If you don’t have an account, join us at Sakurajima at Mastodon or our Misskey server. If you want an easier experience on the Fediverse, you should probably use the Misskey server (Sakurajima.social) since it’s more user-friendly and a bit more like Twitter. Also, it’s popular in Japan as most Japanese artists use it as an alternative to Twitter.
You can find me at @chikorita157@sakurajima.moe for my main account and @chikorita157@chikorita157.com if you just want to follow my blog content only. You can comment on blog posts from @chikorita157@chikorita157.com with your Fediverse account by replying to the post.
I suggest to Fediverse that there are more tools to auto-share your content and clients to use with Mastodon and Misskey. You can also bridge your Mastodon or Misskey account to BlueSky, so you only need to post from one account. WordPress can auto-share your posts through your WordPress.com site or with Jetpack or other Mastodon Autoshare plugins if you are hosting yourself. See this guide to learn how to set up autoshare once you have an account.
On BlueSky
For those who prefer BlueSky, there are some steps one needs to do before following me.
- Follow @ap.brid.gy first. This step is important as it allows me to see you and your interactions. Note that you only need to do this once.
- Then you can follow me at @chikorita157.sakurajima.moe (main account) or @chikorita157.chikorita157.com.ap.brid.gy (blog account)
Note that you can comment on posts using your Bluesky account. Just reply to the post by @chikorita157.chikorita157.com.ap.brid.gy; it will eventually appear as a comment when approved.
That said, you should quit Twitter permanently and move on. Twitter is the past, the Fediverse, and maybe BlueSky is the future, where a few billionaires can’t buy and control the narrative of the whole social network, especially the former. To me, there is no benefit in being on a billionaire’s network only spreads misinformation and extremist ideologies. While moving away from it is hard, the experience is so much better.
RIP my Twitter account: December 2007-2024.
Here is my statement I made on Mastodon and BlueSky
As promised in my recent post, I finally got around to finally nuking my :deadbird: account. I already have my archive from two years ago, so there is nothing of value.
Hopefully anyone that is left on that :deadbird: site can find me on Mastodon and also Bluesky as this account is bridged.
I’m done being on Elon’s site, and I’m not going back there, ever again. Been on the site since 2007, but after Elon started ruined it, it’s over for me. My new home is on the Fediverse.
It’s for the best to leave that hopeless cesspool behind.
Yep, all I have to say is good riddance, not that I respected Elon Musk to begin with, for obvious reasons.
