As mentioned last Friday, I appealed to people to leave Twitter. However, given the recent bans, I decided to double down my activity on Mastodon. Twitter has decided to ban all other social network profiles because a certain billionaire’s feelings got hurt. The situation is now extremely dangerous as there is no free speech on Twitter, meaning it’s time to move on.
Change is hard, but I urge everyone to leave Twitter. The person who owns Twitter has only his interest, his cult, and the alt-right interest in mind. As mentioned in my earlier posts, when Elon Musk bought Twitter, I set up a Mastodon server for the Aniblogosphere and any anime fans looking for an alternative. Now it’s time to move.
You can join us at Sakurajima, which is at https://sakurajima.moe. We will only block instances with hate speech, rampant harassment, misinformation, and extremist views to keep everyone safe. Furthermore, I have made tutorials to help Anime Bloggers or anyone interested in joining to get used to Mastodon and set up an auto-share of blog posts on the platform. Note that you can follow other people outside of our Mastodon instance.
Update: After a lot of backlash from this decision, Twitter reversed it, but it doesn’t mean I will be returning to Twitter. A lot of goodwill was lost even by pulling this decision. It proves that being on centralized platforms is not a good idea without regulations like the EU put on them to prevent these companies from pulling a move like this. With that, I will only use my account to read tweets and respond to DMs during the transition period. I still urge people to leave Twitter as long as Elon Musk owns it. No matter if he leaves the CEO position, it’s still an unsafe platform. Also, it doesn’t make sense to share reviews of LGBT content on a platform that condones hate speech and harassment of LGBT people and let those people back on the platform. Therefore, I need to hold true to my morals and do the right thing and stop supporting a platform that promotes hate speech and harassment of LGBT people and minorities like myself.
Also, you can find me on my other profiles.
It’s time to let Twitter rot and become the next MySpace. While change is hard, this is the right thing to do. Society will be better off without Twitter, especially with an egotistical billionaire now controlling it.
As always, you can subscribe to my blog if you want to follow it by using the button on the footer.
Thank you.
