Northern decides to go on with his sinister plans to sacrifice the Standard Program students for the benefit of the modern magic students. Now that someone has rescued Suzuki from prison, can she, Kurumi and Yuzu stop her?
Before the actual fight happens, we see a flashback. We see Northern along with two familiar magician girls. They head to the lake as Suzuki, Minami Minegenius, and I assume the purple-haired girl might be Kurumi’s mother. Minegenius/Suzuki is the magician who cleared the sky and gave that notebook to Kurumi. Also, it’s interesting that the purple-haired familiar is that owl with the MRC. Hazel and Minegenius work together to save a deer caught on a tree root.
What is happening now concerns element M from ancient times, which the modern faction sealed. Rettoran has a lot of this energy. Element M allows anyone to use ancient magic until the modern faction seals Element M away and monopolizes the magic themselves. As a result, only a particular group of people can use modern magic. They are releasing in spots considered the seven wonders of Rettoran, which, so far 6, are dealt with.
Meanwhile, Northern attempts to harness all the power for only the modern magic faction go wrong. Northern’s motive for this contraption is so that the contemporary magic students can have all the magic at the expense of the Standard Program students. He doesn’t seem to care if they get sacrificed as long he can achieve his goal.
Given his motives, I wonder if the modern magic stuff with executing spells from touch screen books and using those flying devices takes a lot of magic. It seems as if it’s wasteful, like consumerism. After all, ancient magic seems more efficient, although you have to draw those shapes as it’s pulling from a magic source from nature.
Also, only allowing a select few to use magic seems like the current situation, with only a specific group of people having the power and regular people not. After all, Suzuki mentioned that everyone used to be able to use magic by drawing spell arrays until the modern faction sealed their source of magic away. In a way, the contemporary faction sealed the ancient magic to gain the most power.
As Suzuki faces off Northern, the scientist girl with Kurumi and Yuzu tries to find the last wonder. Kurumi might know where the last one is as it’s the rock she ran into in that frozen lake and used as a heating rock for the sauna. After they remembered that they had hidden it somewhere, they finally went to that spot, and of course, it was up to Kurumi and Yuzu to deal with this last wonder and save Rettoran from destruction.
Meanwhile, Minami Minegenius faces off Northern as he uses his life force as his magic source. Of course, that is while Kurumi’s grandmother remembers taking Kurumi to a particular forest to explain the Element M thing. Even when Minegenius and Northern are down, she still insists on saving Northern despite all the bad things he did. The question is whether he will save himself, although he will probably face punishment. We’ll see in the last episode that Kurumi and Yuzu will successfully stop Northern’s plan and save Rettoran simultaneously. Also, I wonder if Suzuki will reveal who gave Kurumi that Magumi notebook
