Akiba Maid Sensou – Episode 5 – A Sheep Filled and Red Birthday

November 3, 2022 by Chikorita157 3 Comments
Oinky Dink Cafe is in the deep red that they need to make fake flowers.

After the manager took back control of Oinky Dink with Shiipon’s help, they are still in the red. However, Nagomi has an idea that can help bring in the dough.

You might wonder why Nagomi is tied up on a hair with Ranko in what looks like blood. Well, there is more to that. Either way, it seems that the Oinky Doink Café is still in the red, and yes, she had the maids besides Yumechi making fake carnations for 0.5 yen. Yep, it will take making one million flowers to make 500,000 yen. This doesn’t seem realistic, there got to be another way.

Nagomi tries to get advice from a next door maid.

When Nagomi passes out the fliers, she notices something different. It looks faded since the manager can’t afford ink. I know since inkjet printer ink is a rip-off since we know it’s a racket. It’s cheaper to print with laser, but the manager can’t afford it, obviously. At least Nagomi ask for some ideas from the kind maid next door. Apparently, events are what brings in the money, especially birthday event. Thus, the idea to come up with one.

All the sudden, everyone at the cafe acts mean towards Nagomi over Ranko’s birthday.

We find out that Yumechi refuses to reveal her birthday, and Shiipon doesn’t know who is born this time of year. We know someone that does, and it’s Ranko, out of all people. She is turning 36 years old with her birthday on May 9th. The funny thing is nobody is willing to help except for Nagomi when they bring it up. They act mean and wouldn’t allow them to buy a cake. The funny thing is that they eat bean sprouts to afford to buy that said cake when Ranko is not around. That is pretty sneaky, especially since they don’t complain about Ranko putting up decorations.

It’s probably not a good idea asking help from a fellow cafe that is in Creatureland.
Compared to Hiiragi Mayuki, Karuko is two faced and has a dark secret. Also, voiced by the same voice actress too.
Nagomi finally defends Ranko, which only means one thing.

The next day, Nagomi thought about getting a sister café in Creatureland to help. However, this is probably not the best idea as they went to a sheep-themed café. Nagomi makes a wrong choice as the head maid, and Kaoruko makes fun of Ranko. That is after she finds out that Ranko is going to turn 36 years old, and she believes that Ranko is too old to be a maid.

Like with Nagomi, Ranko didn’t like the idea of violence, until she is forced too.

Of course, we see Nagomi stick up for Ranko by telling her she doesn’t need her help. Ranko thanks her for that, which makes me wonder, is this the start of an age-gap pairing? After all, Nagomi doesn’t want Ranko to act out. That is when she finds out Ranko’s back story. Yes, she did her time after avenging the killer of the head maid. Before that incident, Ranko was like Nagomi but wanted to stick to nonviolence as she didn’t like violence. She learned the hard way after what happened. This is why Ranko puts in so much effort to protect everyone at the Oinky Dink Café.

It looks like Karouko outsmarted Ranko.
Kaoruko throwing a lamb into the tub is a reference to a movie about lambs.

As expected, Kaoruko found them, but Ranko couldn’t take out all the maids as Karuko stuck a gun at Nagomi’s head. In short, they must surrender as they are tied up in a chair in a wooden tub. The Maid Sheep has a dark secret. They kill maids and people with the same birthdays. This makes you wonder where are the normal maid cafes.

Nagomi freaks out by the blood, which is tomato juice.

When Karoko turns on the birthday surprise, red liquid fills the tub. Yes, she even throws a lamb into the tub. Is this supposed to be a reference to Silence of the Lambs? But, of course, the red stuff is just tomato juice, which Nagomi freaks out about.

They bought a cake for Ranko all along.
This is the first time seeing the manager in the maid outfit.

Meanwhile, we see the manager in the maid café uniform for the first time. She pretends to be Ranko, but she looks nothing like her. They wondered where she went as they bought a special cake for her. Then, of course, the panda, Okachimachi, saw where Nagomi and Ranko went.

Ranko and Nagomi managed to get back into the upright position but didn’t know how to escape. As expected, Ranko reveals to Nagomi that her birthday is the only thing she looks forward to. Since she is at a new maid café, she hoped to celebrate with them. After all, she only got a doughnut and café au lait for her birthday when she was in prison until last year. Quite interesting that she trusts Nagomi with this information, strengthening the possible Nagomi and Ranko pairing.

The crew finally came to save Ranko and Nagomi.

Thankfully, Shippon, Yumechi, and Zoya came to save them with some lead pipes. Unfortunately, the Sleep café maids didn’t receive a good ending as they managed to rescue Nagomi and Ranko. It’s funny how Kaoruko gets her deserts as she proclaims that Creatureland won’t allow this. But of course, Yumechi kills her. After all, they wiped out the competition in the past, so it’s fair game. Given the deeds they did, Maid Sheep deserves it.

This panda is probably no ordinary one as it takes the money box.
Yep, it’s obvious who took a slice of the cake already.

With that, Ranko receives a special surprise birthday cake. Funny how the manager already took a slice before Ranko blew out the candles. Of course, the panda took the moneybox from the Maid Sheep. That is quite clever, but at least Ranko gave a lovely performance. Hopefully the manager doesn’t blow it this time.

I didn’t pay attention at first so the girls kinda caring about Ranko and Nagomi after all was somewhat surprising.

I really don’t want Nagomi to become a cold killer like Ranko.

The sheep leader deserved what happened to her. Hope our heroines will be ready for the incoming storm though.

Their pretend to be mean really got me, but obviously they did a bad job hiding that fact. Still, hopefully Nagomi stays out of the fighting part and remains normal compared to the rest. But yes, it seems that the sheep leader deserved what she got given her deeds, but hopefully everyone is prepared to what to come.
