After seeing the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club’s performance, Lanzhu decides to give up being a school idol. Can Mia and Shioriko change Lanzhu’s mind before she returns back to Hong Kong?
Now that Lanzhu feels that Nijigasaki outdid her, she decides to call it quits. Of course, Mia doesn’t seem to like her decision. After all, she was using her to jumpstart her music career. Sadly, after coming to her apartment, Lanzhu wouldn’t change her mind. Lanzhu tells Mia that she is breaking their partnership as she realizes that she couldn’t surpass Nijigasaki. I think this is a copout reason, but there is more to this that she is not telling.
With that, Mia made a last-ditch effort to change her mind. Mia worked hard for days to create the “ultimate” song to change her mind. Sadly, despite giving her a listen, while Lanzhu thinks it’s a good song, she doesn’t think it suits her. In other words, there is something that Lanzhu is not telling Mia about not wanting to be a school idol anymore. As expected, Mia got upset at her by saying “forget it” in English as she left while being upset.
Rina eventually notices that Mia is upset and tries to calm her down. However, she became upset at her, but Rina didn’t give up on her. After all, Rina can relate to Mia’s experiences from her own experiences of having trouble expressing herself. After Mia calms down and eats something with Rina, she finally reveals why she becomes upset.
From this, we learn why Mia relies on Lanzhu. Mia is from a family of renowned musicians. While Mia loves singing, however performing on stage is a different story. Like Kanon from Superstar, she has crippling anxiety on performance day. Mia couldn’t perform because of her stage fright. As a result, she feels disgraced as she couldn’t uphold her family’s name. So she thought that composing music and having Lanzhu sing it might be a way to prove herself to her family. Sadly, we know how that turned out.
Eventually, Rina wants Mia to sing her own song after hearing her struggles. After all, since Mia likes to sing, Rina doesn’t want her to forget it. So it’s good that Mia finally realizes that becoming a school idol might be the thing that can turn things around as a musician. After all, she helped Yuu make the song she can become proud of.
After some hard work remaking the song, she is ready to show it to everyone. Of course, Shioriko tries her hardest to get Lanzhu to reconsider. They eventually found her at the airport and prevented her from leaving. They want her to listen to Mia’s song.
Sure, Lanzhu says she did everything she could without realizing it was Mia that wanted to perform. Mia was there and gave a performance that well, impressed everyone. Also, she sang in full English too. Either way, this is a big win, especially for Yuu.
We discover why Lanzhu initially wanted to give up being a school idol. She feels that she can’t become friends and believes that something always goes wrong when she tries. She had difficulty making friends, and Shioriko was the only one willing to become one with her. Yes, she is afraid of being rejected by others. This is why she was so against joining the School Idol Club. She believed that becoming a solo idol could solve this and allow others to acknowledge her. But, of course, she finds out that solo idols are tried to a club that strengthens their bonds. The girls in the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club admit that Lanzhu is what led them to create their own units.
With that, it’s good that Lanzhu changed her mind and started off fresh. After all, she has Mia and Lanzhu as they start their new school idol adventure. Either way, it’s nice to see the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club complete with all its members. Also, it’s funny seeing Lanzhu try to wake up Karin and Mia as she moved into the dorms now. I wonder how their new unit will turn out from here.
Very cool development for a tomboy with a soft interior. Her song was great as expected from Love Live.
Shioriko tried to help Lanzhu look in front of her but Mia had to be all “Hey dummy. These girls all want to be your friend” for her to get it. The Sacred 13 are together at last. Now we need another swimsuit episode or segment.
It’s good that Mia find her way to prove her family’s reputation. I think she will have a good place in the School Idol Club.
Sure, Lanzhu’s confidence in creating friends take a a turn given her stuck up personality, but it’s nice that she finally defrosted. It’s bound to happen, eventually.
