With Koharu’s birthday coming up, Hiyori and Koi try to figure out what to give her. Of course, Koharu seems to have the urge to tie a fly of her own.
As expected, Koi asked about to get for Koharu’s birthday. Of course, while Hiyori is chatting with her, Koharu slid the door. She showed the photos of little Hiyori and Koi making a fly bait. Apparently after seeing how cute Koi and Hiyori are making the fly, she wants to give it a try. As expected, Hiyori looked at Koharu’s album and it didn’t have many photos. This obviously give her the idea what to give her.
When Koi came over, it’s obvious that Koharu wants to make the fly that Koi and Hiyori made from their childhood. As expected, we get a flashback of Koi trying make the best one for Hiyori. While she made many, she doesn’t seem satisfied.
That is until Koi gets upset over not being able to perfect the creation of it. That is until their mothers came and saw them crying. Koi’s mother suggests putting in a ring box. Yep, since the presentation looks so good that it looks like Koi is presenting her the fly bait hook. I must admit that it looks like Koi proposing marriage to Hiyori. This makes me feel that the Hiyori and Koi pairing is strong, even now although Koharu is Koi’s new competition.
Back to the present day, Koi shows Hiyori and Koharu to make an Elk Hair Caddis. Koharu seems amazed by how good Koi made one before she gave it a try. Eventually, she did it while Koi made many. Either way, she can’t wait to use them in a contest.
Koharu gets to use them in a contest where the fisher has one hour to catch the biggest fish. When Koi’s father shows the prizes, Hiyori has her eyes on that giant body pillow that is shaped like a fish.
As expected, Hiyori manages to catch the biggest fish and obviously won the prize as seen during Koharu’s birthday party. On the other hand, for Koharu, she only caught a small fish. When she wanted to take a picture, her phone was in the water. Sadly, it’s not waterproof like most phones. Of course, Aiko took pictures of Futaba using continuous shutter. Yep, she is kind of becoming like Mya-nee.
Jumping to Koharu’s birthday, Koi, Futaba, and Aiko came over. Koharu apparently made rainbow trouttakikomi gohan. Yes, Koharu used the fish that Hiori caught, and the girls seem to like the meal.
When Aiko and Futaba along with Koi presented their gifts to Koharu, Hiyori becomes hesitant to give hers. She felt that the gift Hiyori wants to give her is somewhat lacking. Koharu took it with her new phone while mentioning the lost memories. However, Koi points out that the photos that Koharu took might be uploaded to the cloud. Indeed, they are, and she feels relieved that her memories aren’t gone. Either way, it shows that backups are important.
Either way, Hiyori is in an awkward position after Koi points it out in private. Yep, Koharu eventually notices as she becomes annoyed. It’s because she never received a gift from Hiyori. I like how Koharu acts like a tsundere in this moment until Hiyori brought out the gift. It’s a blank album as Hiyori wants to give her so she can safely store her memories. Of course, they go and pick some photos to put in the album.
As expected, like with most Manga Time Kirara, Slow Loop is an enjoyable slice of life comedy. Sure, Hiyori’s and Koharu’s situation does feel a lot like Citrus, except Hiyori’s new older sister is kinder and energetic.
Of course, Koi of course can be compared to Harumi giving advice while being supportive of Hiyori and Koharu. I find it funny how she is named after a fish, although the Kanji used is different. Also, it’s nice that there are two other pairings, namely Futaba and Aiko along with Ichika and Kaede. Overall, I feel that this is a fluffier version of Houkago Teibou Nisshi with more yuri.
