Magia Record – Episode 8 – Mysterious and Suspicious Messages

February 22, 2020 by Chikorita157 3 Comments
It’s nice to see Tsuruno make lunch for Iroha.

Now that Iroha and her friends defeated the Rumor of the Misery Rhyton, Iroha finally moves to Kamihama city. She starts her first day at a new school. However, she starts receiving weird text messages from someone.

At last, Iroha starts her first day at the new school. Sure, she is nowhere closer to finding her little sister. Sadly, Kaede is nowhere to be found. This is surprising since we see her sitting at home in a room surrounded with plants. She appears to go to school and head stright home afterwards. I wonder why?

Rena seems lonely without Kaede.

During class, Iroha finally discovers strange text messages when she was expecting one from Kaede. Iroha eventually meets Rena on the roof with a pile of old desks behind her.  Rena obviously feels disappointed that Iroha didn’t tell her that she transferred to the same school. I guess Iroha’s focus is on finding her little sister. Sadly, she is not having much luck.

As expected, this is where the anime and the game or manga diverges. We learn about the invisible girl rumor. Apparently, the web page that is spreading the rumor is not mentioned at all. Also, Momoko and Kaede doesn’t appear, although Rena is there. That said, those suspicious message still exists, which Yachiyo finds really suspicious. Still, Iroha still seems curious, but haven’t respond until the end.

Felicia scares Iroha like that.
As expected, she got a new job thanks to Tsuruno.

The big notable change is in the second half with Felicia’s new job. Instead of working as a mercenary, she works at Tsuruno’s restaurant. I find it funny how she scares the crap out of Iroha for not buying anything. It only took her a while to realize that it’s Iroha. Not only that, Felicia gets into trouble. Iroha has to see the police to pick her up.

Even if Felicia got into trouble, it was for a good reason.

Apparently, Felicia got herself with things associated with delinquents. I guess playing hooky from school is not a good idea at all. Apparently, Felicia got angry and punch girls who talked down at Yachiyo and Iroha. While she doesn’t admit it, Iroha understands well.

Iroha and Felicia analyzing the voices near the tower.

The next day, Iroha goes by the radio tower. She notices someone going to the roof and follows her. This is different with the game and manga as Iroha went to the roof to stop someone who has a witch’s kiss from jumping off the tower. Also, Iroha faced off Rebecca and Madoka came to help her. I guess in the anime, she will appear sooner than later with Homura.

Here we go again! One of the Amane sisters is back!

Instead, Iroha when she goes on the roof sees Tsukuyo. I forgot to mention that the Amane sisters appear a lot throughout the story. So much that players of the game compare the sisters as Team Rocket from Pokémon. That said, she starts controlling the rooftop witch, Stacy with her flute. She also reveals that she trapped a girl named Futaba Sana in the rumor. In the game, Tsukuyo doesn’t reveal this piece of information to Iroha. In the game, Tsuruno and Homura captures Tsukuyo trying to dine and dash.

Yachiyo finally gives Iroha the approval to go ahead.

Either way, Yachiyo, Tsuruno and Felicia shows up to defeat Stacy. At dinner, Yachiyo listens to the message. She gives Iroha the permission to answer the messages. I wonder what will come from this. We’ll see sooner than later what mysteries lie behind these messages.

Hope the trio will be alright.

Felicia getting in trouble with police because she stood up for her new moms was sweet. Iroha certainly appreciated her baby girl’s coolness.

Lots of creepy stuff this episode.

Yes, I think Rena, Momoko and Kaede are alright, but things might take a turn in the last few episodes.

It’s definitely understandable. After all, Felicia now considers them family.
