Endro! – Episode 1 – False Endings and New Beginnings

January 12, 2019 by Chikorita157 3 Comments
What happened in the beginning is a dream, or is it?

At last, Yulia and her friends finally seeks out the Demon Lord. Will they be able to defeat him?

As you would expect, the Demon Lord is hard to defeat. Sadly, they had a hard time landing a defeating blow on him. In short, Yulia decides all the powers of her party members to use a forbidden magic, Dimension Prison Barrier. With that, the girls manage to defeat the Demon Lord, but so we thought. More on that later. Still, it’s quite clever to roll the credits and breaking the fourth wall with the episode’s title to cleverly trick the audience.

Seria received more than she bargained for.
Obviously, Seria is embarrassed.

With that, we are introduced to our heroines and her party members. Apparently, Yulia is sleeping as Seria, who is a priest class tries to wake her up and rest of her party members. Later, we see Fai, who is a warrior and Mei, whom is a witch. I find it funny how the tips of Seria’s ears are red and Yulia noticed. Apparently, Fai finds them soft and spongy as she bits them while Seria attempts to wake her up. I think we have a potential pairing there. Aside from that, Mei reminds me a lot of Chino with the same voice and similar looks.

As expected, Yulia couldn’t resist Mao’s cuteness.

During class, apparently their teacher retired and he left by using teleporting magic. In place of him, Mao, a child demon girl is their teacher. Despite her cute looks, she looks suspicious. The funny thing is that while her appearance endears everyone in the class, Yulia given her ditzy personality proceeds to hug her. Yes, that is not a good idea, especially since Mao is a teacher. The funny thing is that Mao tells Yulia that a hero class doesn’t exist since there is no Demon Lord. In other words, Yulia is classless. This makes you wonder about that forbidden spell Yulia and her friends used to defeat the Demon Lord.

It’s obvious that Mao is up to no good.

Mao have her class to a simple assignment to get an item from an easy dungeon. If a party fails, Mao will expel them. While this seems harsh, I find it funny how everyone cleared it easily, except for Yulia’s party. It’s obvious why. Mao is actually the Demon Lord that Yulia and her friends from a different time line sent back in time instead of imprisoning him. In other words, they botched up the forbidden magic. Now that Mao has memories of what happened, she intends to thwart them so they can never defeat her.

Seria’s fears settles in as expulsion becomes a possibility.

It’s funny how Yulia, Mei and Fai fell for the fake arrow. Seria seems suspicious of the arrow pointing them in the direction. After all, it can be a trap. Sadly, thanks to Yulia’s ditziness, they took the hard path and ended up in a jail cell eventually. It’s kind of sad and funny at the same time seeing Seria become increasingly worried that they would face expulsion for failing in an easy dungeon.

Yulia now has the Master Hero Sword.

Thanks to Yulia pressing a button on a wall, they managed to get out of jail. Yulia finds the hero’s sword in front of them and without reading the text, she pulls it out. This is only when Mei read the text that Yulia didn’t realize she started a trial. Thankfully, they beaten the metal golem. Still, it’s funny how Yulia’s sword accidentally damaged the dungeon, thus causing it to come crashing down. I guess Yulia became lucky this time around. As they say, the harder path tends to give greater rewards.

Mao in dismay as her plan backfires.

Thankfully, Yulia’s party got out of it alive and yes, Mao becomes shocked. She thought that she got the girls. Sadly, Yulia and her friends managed to outsmart her. After all, it’s a different time line and not everything is going to play out the same way. Still, I have a feeling that even with Mao’s prior knowledge, her plans to try to defeat them probably won’t work. I guess it’s only a matter of time until Yulia and her friends find out Mao’s true identity once they find the Demon Lord. Aside from that, at least Yulia is not classless anymore.

Currently the best show of the season. The main quartet are adorable with Fai being my current favorite for obvious reasons. The twist was pretty cool and I’m interested to see where the story goes.

Also I REALLY hope the sexy black adventurer won’t be a one-off character.

I agree, the first episode is enjoyable and the characters are fun. It’s quite obvious why you see Fai as an enjoyable character, that ear biting. But it should be interesting how this time line works out and Mao’s scheme to thwart the heroines from actually defeating the demon lord this time.
