Chika and the others found out why Dia gave up being a school idol. However, there is another part of the story that is missing.
From the looks of it, it seems that Mari does not want to give up the dream of being a school idol. There is no wonder why she approved the School Idol Club to set the stage to bring back Dia and Kanan. Sadly, Chika’s efforts did not go so well with her group placing last place with zero votes. Sure, copying Muse’s strategy might be a cause for this, but there is another side of the story.
I have to admit that seeing Mari still trying to convince Kanan on her first day back was funny. Kanan basically threw the school idol outfit out of the window, causing You to reach out to catch it. Thankfully, Chika manage to stop the fight before it escalated.
It’s obvious that Kanan adamantly does not want to be a school idol anymore, but she never tells why. Not only that, Dia takes Kanan’s side as well after Mari asks for reasons why. Yoshiko had to catch Dia after she attempted to run away so that she can tell the truth.
The main reason Dia, Kanan and Mari did not perform was not because they couldn’t sing. It’s because of Mari’s injuries that she attempted to hide. It’s obvious that Dia and Kanan got worried that Mari’s injuries might worsen if they perform. In short, they decided not to. It’s understandable, but this doesn’t explain why they decided to disband all the sudden.
It seems that the answer is simple. Kanan decided it’s not worth continuing since it would interfere with Mari’s future. Given that Mari was turning down opportunities that would make it easier for her to get into college worried Kanan. Mari seems to be too focused on wanting to be a school idol rather than on her future. That’s why Kanan decided to intervene and quit being school idols so Mari can focus on her future. Of course, this is not what Mari wanted, but she went along with it until now.
After realizing the truth, Mari finally understands that Kanan still cares about her. Yes, she has been looking after Mari since she was a child. Afterwards, Mari seeks out Kanan and shares how she feels by slapping her. Although it was emotional, I’m glad that they finally made up with each other. With that, Dia have no more excuses not to be a school idol anymore now that Kanan and Mari joined. In short, Aqours is now complete with all its members.
In the end, this was a good episode, more so since there are no references to Muse to overshadow the group. This was all about Aqours and nothing else, which makes this episode particularly powerful in its execution. But with that said and done, this explains everything why Aqours got zero votes. Yep, Dia came up with the name and they tarnished the name for not performing at all.
At least they know that this is the likely reason for Aqour’s bad result from last time. Don’t worry, they will shrug that off in no time. As long Chika doesn’t go back to the strategy Seira scolded her on, Aqours has the potential to make it big.
Mari was in the right to knock some sense into Kanan for being jerky to her, well meaning or not. If I were a woman I would have punched her myself but a hard slap works too. At least they had make-up sex afterward.
Yohane would make a great wrestler like Sakura Hagiwara did.
Zuramaru and Ruby’s combined cuteness could cause the polar icecaps to melt because of how much they warm hearts of fans worldwide.
Now that the third years have chilled out my time will soon come. the fact next week’s episode is swimsuit themed is a bonus.
I do agree given that it’s obvious that she doesn’t want to give it up, but was forced to. There is probably no wonder why she return after one year. Kanan basically forced her to do it without listening how she feels. The slap is well deserved, but thankfully she made up quickly.
But aside from that, it seems that Yoshiko’s person catching skills are good. She managed to catch Ruby and Dia without trouble. But hopefully next week will be more lighthearted now that the group is complete.
