As the first round is coming to a close, competition is becoming fierce. As always, my review criteria won’t change as we review another 12 Anime Blogs.
Before going on, this review Digest will contain screenshots of the actual website and how they look on my machine, so slow connections, beware… I’m basing all content on quality, not the blogger’s overall opinion on issues and stuff. Also, if you want to vote in the tournament, you can do it over here.
Day 10
Match 19
It came to my attention that some people irrationally personal attacked AstroNerdBoy, so I will give him a sympathy vote. Moving away from the e-Drama, He has a clean layout, posts very often with long descriptive episodic posts. However, I think he should have write more editorial posts since episodic with a synopsis and thoughts are getting a bit redundant.
ěk-sěn’trĭk is an episodic blog too, but I won’t take off points because people can’t customize themes on WordPress.com. The author needs to add an Archive widget on the blog as well so people can view older posts easily. The most unique part is that the author hosts a Shoujo Moe Contest, something that I haven’t seen in the blogosphere thus far.
Match 20
Sorry about the blog not viewing properly in my browser, but I won’t hold you against that. Clearly, I think that GAR GAR Steogosaurus has an advantage here for posting rather interesting editorials… Although not a frequent poster, I think content is king (or queen for this instance) here… Layout and navigation is clean and simple… Also, I did recall linking two of her posts on my blog in the past.
Project Saber is a typical First/Last Impressions, Figma, etc blog. The author only does First and Last impressions posts, but the problem is the content doesn’t really appeal to me that much. Also, the author should be a little more creative with the design since I have seen the same theme in the past. On the flip side, the author does post a lot… but although the former doesn’t post a lot, I find the content from her a lot more interesting than Project Saber, so the vote goes to GAR GAR Steogosaurus

Day 11
Match 21
Blue Blue Wave is a episodic blog. However, the author does post some photo sharing. Clean layout and stuff, but I wished the author would spend less on episodic content. Besides from that, the photos the author shares are pretty interesting.
Like with GAR GAR Steogosaurus, Fuzakenna is a very interesting blog that is mostly editorials. I had read some posts in the past, namely the Pokemon G/S remakes that I find entertaining… Also, the blog has a pretty simple and clean layout, so the advantage is obvious. Although Blue Blue Wave looks nice and has some nice photography going around, it needs to focus more on other content other than episodic synopsis/thoughts type of posts.
Match 22
I don’t know why people put these Wibiya toolbars on the bottom of the page. On my blog, I have it up only for 6 months and decided to take it down because it was annoying! The way they had their categories is another problem since you have to expand it to see them and also a lack of a Archives, which makes it a bit harder to view older posts. Content wise, Metanorn is mostly a episodic blog and does post music and downloads, which I can question the legality of it… Instead of just posting the link to the download, they could at least review it to make productive use of the music posts.
and also, please get rid of the Wibiya bar… they are annoying! (no offense)
Oishii Anime is a up and coming blog. It has a pretty and clean layout and the author seems to post frequently. Although not perfect, I think the author is working hard to improve. The most unique thing about this blog is the 365 Days of Anime Characters, which features a specific character from a Anime and holy, there are a lot of them. Because of the effort that she puts in it, Oishii Anime is the blog I’m going to vote for this match…

Day 12
Match 23
I’m going to skip this vote for this match because of the lack of interest and bad match-ups… This means, no reviews for this match… so you have it lucky. 🙂
Match 24
What is with people putting these annoying toolbars on the bottom of the page where you can’t turn them off completely. Anyways, ∑Xce7ion although sometimes post very interesting posts, there are the extremely short posts that lack quality. Also, the author needs to post more content as well since people wants to see at least a blog that updates a few times a month, at least 6 posts per month minimum or even better, 10 posts per month!
Baden-Baden-Lily has a lot going around with its layout that it is too busy. I find the related post thing on the post index not necessary and adding more mess to the layout. Although not the type of content I would be more interested in, they will get the vote based on productivity. They need to clean up the layout and thats all…

This wraps up the AniBlog Tourney digest. This will leave 4 more matches left in round 1, so the remaining 4 matches will be split up into two more digests in this round. Part 5 will include __ism vs Shitstorm, Astrobunny vs Anime Void, Memories of Eternity vs Oballer’s Blog, Eye Sedso vs Densetsu no Shouen A. Part 6 will have Unmei Kaihen vs Continuing World, the null set vs bad luck party, We Love Maids vs Desu ex Machina. The last match, I will be doing constructive criticism for Anime Princess since I can’t really review my blog myself and it is obvious that I will vote for myself…

The muse has to be upon me before I write editorials or “random thought” posts. Those are actually easier posts to make once I have something I want to talk about. Its just finding something that I want to discuss that’s difficult.
Still, you’ve given me something to consider and I thank you for that.
You’re welcome 🙂
I believe we’re supposed to vote on the merits of the blogs, not because we sympathize with someone in random blogosphere drama. I probably wouldn’t bother to say this if I didn’t like ěk-sěn’trĭk, but it’s still true.
I probably forgot to say, this is the only exception I have made so far in the reviews. Most of the blogs I have reviewed are done the same way with no sympathy vote… except this one…
In the future, I will not likely give out sympathy votes in the next rounds… so it’s solely going to based on what criteria I had laid out.
I agree with the Wibiya toolbars thing, it does get really annoying, I voted for ∑Xce7ion because he has such a nice banner/overall layout but I didn’t take notice that the author doesn’t post much o_o
I love reading your review Digest, it’s interesting ^^ keep up the good work 😀
