July 27, 2009 by Chikorita157 Leave a Comment

Minagi’s arc comes to a end… but this episode was sad, but not as much as Kotomi’s arc.

Minagi finally makes up with her mother with a mental condition and invites Michiru for lunch at her house. (Spoilers ahead)

Synopsis

When Yukito wakes up from his sleep, he sees Minagi, which was making breakfast. Then Michuru came running and hugs Minagi and happy to see her again since she wish to. Meanwhile, Misuzu was at the station wall hearing on the conversation and then runs off.

Michiru only eats, play, and sleep... Wish you have a life like that?

After work, Yukito hears a story about Minagi and her father in her childhood which he now lives in a faraway town and got remarried.

Next day, Yukuto was taking a break with Michiru and Potato on her head, telling that Minagi needs to wake up from her dream. After hearing from Hirjiri that Minagi’s mother started to remember something, that she lost something important. In the effort to help her, Yukito visits Minagi again and have her to take her belongings and he takes her to her house.

Have we been here before?
Have we been here before?

Then, Yukito tells Minagi why he did this. This is because Michiru don’t want to see Minagi sad. With that, she walks to the door, but realizes that her mother was in the garden and she calls for her mother. When her mother sees her daughter, she goes up to her and comes to her senses that it was Minagi.

Tear jerking moment...
Tear jerking moment...
Welcome back home, Minagi!
... Welcome back home, Minagi!

After Yukito finishes what Michiru have wanted, he went back to the station with Michiru looking at the stars. Michiru then reveals that she went to the girl to the sky to obtain a plume for someone she wanted to comfort and that she wants to return it so she will be happy and she is just a piece of a dream.

Whaaaa! Michiru got that lobster with one hand?!

Next day, Minagi explains why she called herself Michiru so her mother kept smiling. Then, Minagi tells how she first met Michiru at the station after her father left her.

Michiru as a loli....
Michiru as a loli....

If she haven’t wished for a sister, the dream would’nt happen, but Minagi wants Michiru to meet someone important first. Then, they have dinner at Minagi’s house and Michiru, after hesitation, finally reveals her name.

Um... My name is.... Michiru.
Um... My name is.... Michiru.

After dinner, Minagi spills Michiru’s sand for safe keeping. Once she put the top on it, Michiru disappeared. After going to the top of the school roof, Michiru was on the other side of the fence and Minagi starts to get worried about her. Michiru said she have to go and that she had so much fun. She wants Minagi to keep smiling, but Minagi won’t be happy without her. Then, they make a promise to tell her happy things to her so she will be freed from her sad dreams. Michiru wants Minagi say goodbye with a smile. After comforting her and making that promise, she says goodbye and Michiru disappears.

Michiru, bye-bye.
Michiru, bye-bye.

One summer day, Minagi got a letter from her father that her father and his wife got a little sister and that she is visiting them. When she meets her sister, which looks very familiar, she introduces herself.

Her sister looks awfully familiar.

Meanwhile, Yukito goes back to Misuzu’s house, but finds her on the floor, unconscious.

Noooo! Misuzuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

Thoughts

Minagi’s arc, although not as sad in my opinion to Kotomi’s arc, it seems that they pretty much got most of the important parts of the story. As with most stories Key produce for the quiet/shy archetype (Mai, Minagi and Kotomi), this one is done pretty good… and yes, Michuru is cute as a child.

Still amazing how Kyoto Animation did the animation on the last part of the episode… too bad Endless Eight sucked so much.

Next Episode: Misuzu and her curse… this one is going to make me cry my heart lot…

Verdict

9.5/10

Minagi’s Arc: 9.45/10
