After watching the CLANNAD movie and being disappointed about it, I see why not watch the Air Movie to see if it’s any different. From what I heard about the movie, there are mixed opinions instead of most of the people saying the movie sucked or anything that Toei made with Key sucks and that Kyoto Animation is better! I’m not trying to get into a debate which studio is better, but I heard that the Air movie seems to go more in depth with Misuzu’s arc than it did in Air TV because they covered the other two girl’s arc and the amount of episodes alloted in the series (it would have been a little better if it’s 24 episodes, but it was still good for what I have seen so far). After seeing the big disappointment with the Clannad movie, should I push my luck and watch and review the Air Movie? The only difference with this is I haven’t played the visual novel for Air, since there is a lack of a translation so that would be to my advantage.

Yes, you should watch it. Although it sways away from the original story, I found it to still be a good watch. It’s much better than that horrible Clannad movie.
Why not? I haven’t seen it myself, but Air had a good essence, and I think it’d be hard to ruin it, but who knows. Clannad is a bit more fragile of a story.
AIR movie is a really different from the Kyoto animation one if you ask me.
Actually, I thought Clannad was the better one, since I didn’t really like AIR. But what the heck, just view it if you have the time! It’s worth your time!
Yes it’s going to be different since it’s not possible to fit a visual novel into a 90 minute movie… This always happens to novels that turn to movies… alot gets changed…
Anyways, it’s only $12 to spare, so money isn’t a issue… but I wondering about your opinions about it.

As already said, the AIR movie is well worth watching for its different take on a familiar story. It wasn’t as good as the series, but it’s good in its own way and almost stands on equal footing with the series. The frequent watercolor still shots give the movie its own unique visual flavor, and I especially love the brilliant fireworks scene near the end of the movie. I kind of want to watch it again now.
