Yuru Camp – Final Review

January 9, 2021 by Chikorita157 4 Comments
Artist: elise (piclic)

Back in 2018, I kind of forgot about this show despite being a Manga Time Kirara title since I had too much to watch. Yes, it’s Yuru Camp, which is a slice of life story that focuses on cute girls going camping outdoors. As expected, this might be one of the most enjoyable iyashikei shows, especially given what is happening now.

Working’!! (Second Season) – Final Review

February 9, 2012 by Chikorita157 Leave a Comment

I have to admit that while the first season of Working had some flaws, it was one of the most enjoyable comedies because every worker had a quirk that contributed to it. With the second season completed back in December, it improved a lot while showing more of what I liked about the whole show. (Image Source)

Tamayura ~hitotose~ – Episode 1 – How Everything Started…

October 5, 2011 by Chikorita157 4 Comments
Memories from photos are never forgotten...

Back in 2010 when the 4 episode Tamayura OVAs aired, the story felt somewhat incomplete from the lack of development of the other characters. Despite being short, the heartwarming feeling through its lighthearted story and gorgeous setting made the story really enjoyable.

With the first episode of Tamayura ~hitotose~, it retains the same aspects of the OVAs and expands on how Fuu got inspired to become a photographer and ultimately deciding to move back to the town of her childhood.

Ikoku Meiro no Croisèe – Final Review

September 25, 2011 by Chikorita157 5 Comments

With the start of the 21st century, the so-called Iyashikei genre became popularized, especially with Aria through its gorgeous scenery, focus on friendship, and lighthearted feeling. I tend to enjoy them as it melt the stress from life that gives you a good feeling.

Ikoku Meiro no Croisèe is just that, except it involves a really cute and young Japanese girl living in a foreign country like France. (Image Source)

Nichijou and Kyoto Animation’s take on Creativity

September 20, 2011 by Chikorita157 11 Comments

In the past few years, the Slice of Life genre gained a lot of popularity. Many of these shows while similar have unique stories. As I explained in my editorial about the genre back in 2010, there is really no defined definition of what makes a show a Slice of Life.

In particular, Kyoto Animation has pushed few of the most popular shows of this genre.  Lucky Star and K-On has a huge following for cute characters, but both of them have two different premises. The former focuses on the anime subculture and the latter, the true essence of friendship. On the other hand, Nichijou takes a spin of the genre with less emphasis on characters and more on ingenious comedy (Image Source).

Aria the Animation – Episode 4 – Ami’s Promise

September 5, 2011 by Chikorita157 2 Comments
This girl seems to want something...

For those in the United States, I hope everyone had a nice Labor Day and the last unofficial days of summer vacation. For me, I had some fun with my parents and sister as we went to Atlantic City to go dolphin watching and look at the ridiculously small aquarium. Afterwards, we went out to dinner, stay at a hotel and went home today. Although short, it was pretty fun.

On the other hand, Akari sets out on an adventure with Woody to send an old letter from a young girl that she made a promise with.

Not quite the greeting Akatsuki expected...

Since there is a recent shortage of iDOLM@STER subs, I decide to dive deeper into my backlog. I realized that I haven’t gotten too far in Aria the Animation since I only watched the first two episodes.  Of course, Episode 3 brought back the charm and happiness of the series with another young, but cute girl being introduced to the story.

Believe it or not, Alice gives off vibes from Fuuko in this scene!
