It has been a long time since I watched Hidan no Aria. It’s an enjoyable Kugimiya Rie tsundere show filled with badass girls fighting against criminals and an evil organization known as the “IU.” While a sequel did not get announced, there is a spinoff that recieved an adaptation called Hidan no Aria AA focused on a girl who is a fangirl of Aria with a mostly female cast. Does it live up to it’s title? Let’s find out.

While I watched Hidan no Aria ages ago, it felt like another Kugimiya Rie Tsundere shows, especially since it was made by JC Staff. Instead of getting a second season, we now have a spinoff involving a girl named Mamiya Akari who looks up to Aria despite being dead last in the Butei rankings. I know it took awhile, but it’s here now.
As you would expect, Akari is definitely one of those girls that has a cheerful personality. Aside from kicking her younger sister in her dream, she apparently idolizes Aria, who is top of the class to the point where she can stop criminals in their tracks without fail. This time, Aria managed to stop a bank robber gang who is trying to escape by boat without any help.

With only few weeks until the official end of summer, it’s time to take a brief look of what shows I plan on watching along with future plans. As always, the shows I choose to watch are subject to change, especially since the list is small.

During the Fall 2010 Anime Season, I have taken a brief look of some the opening and ending songs I heard from the shows I were watching. Since I only covered a few shows last winter like Madoka Magica, Hourou Musuko and Fractale (Gosick is left out since the ending theme single came out in the spring), I decided not to focus on it. However, I have published a full review on Madoka Magica’s opening song, “Connect” at Anime Instrumentality and you should check it out!
For the Spring 2011 Season, there was a good number of opening and ending songs I liked. Out of the songs that released and listened to during spring, I liked “secret base ~kimi ga kureta mono~” (Ai Kayano, Haruka Tomatsu, Saori Hayami), “Scarlet Knight” (Nana Mizuki), “Hazy” (sphere), “Scarlet Ballet” (May’n), and “Spread Wings” (Aki Misato). With Durandai’s true identity finally uncovered with the attempted kidnap of Shirayuki, the real battle begins.

After fierce competition between Aria and Shirayuki to win over Kinji, the girls finally cool down. Shirayuki spends her time with him the night before the festival without realizing that the fictional Durandai is targeting her secretly.

Since Kinji has officially became Aria’s partner in the mission to catch Riko, the alleged Butei Killer, trouble stirs when Shirayuki becomes jealous of Aria to the point of being axe crazy.
