While 2025 has been a very tough year for obvious reasons. With things being so chaotic and well, a lot of stress from the uncertainty over stability, my blog kind of took a back seat. I know I end up not replying to a lot of comments, but I will probably catch up on the ones made during the Fall up to now. Of course, this meant I forgot to create a post for the 16thanniversary of my blog’s launch.
Not to make the same mistake again, my blog finally turns 17 years old. Yes, my blog is going to be almost an adult next year. That said, I’m going to keep this post short on some of the things that have happened in the last year of blogging.
As you know, things are chaotic, and it was challenging to have my livelihood potentially pulled out under me. I won’t go into huge detail, as it was in the news, and I want to keep politics out of my blog. Long story short, I made it through, and at least there are signs of stability, so hopefully this year won’t be nearly as bad.
That said, some things happened with blogging over the last year. I managed to recreate AniBlogTracker after the original disappeared completely in May. After a few weeks of coding the new site, I managed to get a working version. Of course, my personal server’s SSD crashed, so I have to restore everything. Of course, I forgot to set up backups for AniBlogTracker, meaning I had to rebuild the site list. Eventually, I managed to rebuild the list with backups set up this time. Thankfully, I didn’t lose anything as I restored from backups, although I only had to republish one post.
I’m hoping that with 2025 behind the rear-view mirror, this year won’t be as chaotic. I hope that, with centralized platforms turning to crap and Discord making really bad decisions, I do see a return to blogging, internet forums, etc. I think decentralized social media that can be self-hosted is a good thing, as most are sick of losing connections because of platform owners. With the latest outrage, we just need to stop relying on centralized platforms and start building independently run communities.
That said, let’s hope the 18th year won’t be as bad as I want to reach the 20th year milestone.

@chikorita157 congrats on reaching 17 years with your blog! I hope this year goes well, we all need it 😮💨
