As Hinako went on a trip to the beachside with Shiori, a storm approached. When Shiori takes Hinako somewhere, she becomes fixated on the hands coming out of the ocean.

With the weather taking a turn for the worse as it rains hard, Shiori takes her away from the beach. Hinako, of course, wondered why Shiori was doing it. It becomes apparent with all the hands emerging from the ocean. We have seen them before, especially in the first episode. Shiori reveals that they are a mix of human and yokai.
It’s basically the people who perished tragically at sea who hold a lot of resentment and grief. They only linger to give their grievances to the land. Of course, this means that one of those might be her perished-at-sea family members, which is why she is curious. Shiori doesn’t want her to see them for now, unless they are really her family members.

They eventually took shelter under a bus stop. Of course, we know why Hinako wears long sleeves, even during summer. It becomes very apparent when Shiori insists that Hinako take the jacket off, since it’s all soaking wet. She is so reluctant to do so as it would reveal her scar on her upper back, shoulders, and upper arm.

The funny thing is, she ended up revealing it while trying to hide it. She really hoped that she didn’t have to show it. While it’s unpleasant, she said others had it much worse. Shiori doesn’t seem to mind as it’s irrelevant how Hinako looks, before she changes the topic and says a sick Hinako wouldn’t be good. Even so, having Hinako touch her shoulders makes Shiori feel good. Eventually, it cleared up, and Shiori bought her some kind of cloth to dry off with.

As expected, Hinako bought something for Miko, basically a hair tie and a clip. She seems really happy to receive it. She is not pleased when Shiori shows up after she learns that Miko wants Hinako to help her with the basketball camp. We find out that she gets along with a young lady who kind of looks like Hinako’s mother, Ayame, with the cooking.

Even Shiori thinks something is off about Ayame, as she detected something about her that seems off. While talking down to Miko, thinking that she is better than ever, she mentions that something is off about Ayame, especially her smell. Still, Miko wants to prove that she is the one who is worthy of Hinako, as she hasn’t accomplished a single thing to make Hinako’s wishes come true. The question is, can she still do it, or will Shiori get there first?

That said, when it comes to bath time, Hinako has obviously become reluctant. That is why Shiori says she has something else to do with Hinako while everyone takes a bath. Hinako wonders why Shiori is being too nice to her. Of course, Shiori has one goal for Hinako. She wants her for her own purposes, not for Hinako’s benefit.

This kind of makes me root for Miko over Shiori as she really wants to make Hinako’s wish a reality, even going to lengths to hurt herself to make it happen. That said, as Shiori notices that Hinako is showing more human emotion as she waits for Hinako to get into the bath. However, when Ayame shows up during the credits, saying it’s perfect timing to spend time with Hinako, she gives a creepy smile. Yep, as you expect, Ayame most likely is a yokai out to get her. As for what she plans to do, we’ll find out soon.
