After Youko and Airi managed to take shelter from a big thunderstorm in a building at Umihotaru, Youko had a dream. Of course, something is lurking in the building.
As expected, Youko looks at some photos of some of the attractions in Umihotaru. Of course, she gets a bit tired, but it’s hard not to think about food given the advertisements for local dishes. The funny thing is, when Youko rests, she imagines herself having some regional specialties, seeing Coca-Cola vending machines selling a popular bottled coffee drink, and seeing the cityscape at night.
When Youko woke up, Airi knew that Youko had one of those dreams. The interesting thing is that the cut she had on her finger has already completely healed. She, of course, can’t describe how the food actually tastes. She decides to explore the spots, but it’s still storming badly, so they decide to explore more inside. They, of course, came by the vending machines that Youko saw in her dream. What is interesting is that she manages to find the coin that the girls dropped in her dream. Also, interesting that Airi managed to pick up a good number of coins.
However, Youko and Airi notice something strange. Yes, there is a swarm of scary rats that are surrounding them. They basically ran away, but of course, there are many of them. Thankfully, they almost outran them, but when sliding down the stair rails, they hit something and landed on an abandoned truck. The rats surround them, but the torch starts to leak gas, threatening to catch fire. They had to escape as they broke to the motorcycle and tried to make it out. Well, they almost made it out, but got caught in the explosion.
While Youko and Airi made it out alive, but barely, at least they got to see a sight of the stormy cityscape. Youko tries to take a photo of it, but can’t get a good picture because it’s dark.
Youko, of course, receives an email from Chitose. Youko’s older sister is still alive. However, the reception dropped when she got it, Airi became unresponsive for a bit, before falling and then realizing what had happened.
We know that Airi is probably not human, but this makes it clear that she is a robot, as Chitose sends an email to Youko mentioning that there is a bug in Airi that can cause her to freeze in certain instances. Chitose wants Youko to take Airi to a research center in Tsukuba for maintenance. Of course, Airi wants Youko to check on her strange dreams when she is there, too. I do wonder what causes Youko to have those dreams about Chitose. We’ll find out next time.
