As Nana has another deadline to meet, one of her old friends came to pay a visit, who happens to be a mangaka as well. However, she appears drunk for some reason. I wonder why?
It’s evident that after Nana saw a social media photo of Toko and Amano, she is goofing off. Believe it or not, while Nana struggles with her latest chapter, she doesn’t know how to convey the rival that is part of the story.
When the doorbell rang, Nana decided to get it. Believe it or not, it was a lady who was really drunk who hugged Nana, begging for help. She is upset for some reason because her manga is getting canceled. She has to work on the final chapter for release, and it’s apparent she lacks motivation, as she is drinking her sorrows away.
The funny thing is that Nashida Arisa, the drunk lady we saw hugging Nana, is one of Nana’s former high school classmates. She decided to become a mangaka and happened to have her manga serialized before Nana. She felt really confident that she could surpass Nana.
However, her editor, Toda, doesn’t seem to like her work and has decided to pull the plug. Arisa shows her colder side as she complains how Nana is more successful than she was before she started sleeping because she was too drunk. Believe it or not, she is like this as she drinks. Her personality kind of reminds me of that drunk rocker lady from a particular anime involving a girl band.
That said, while Nana struggles throughout the night to figure out the rival in her story, Arisa finally wakes up and seems hungry. Nana basically gives her cup noodles as she asks Arisa for help. She wonders whether Nana forgot her time working for the same mangaka. Yep, she acts pretty much the same as back then, bragging about how her manga got into a magazine before being approved for serialization.
Yet Arisa complains that her rivalry with Nana is one-sided. Nana, of course, became motivated thanks to Arisa working so hard. Funny how Mizuki kicks her out as she thinks Arisa is just whining about her state of life. Thankfully, Nana let Arisa go back on as she apologized to Nana. Funny how she keeps proposing to marry Nana, not just once but several times.
Nana realized she had accomplished nothing thanks to Arisa. When Mizuki suggests using Arisa to create the rival character for the story, it works out in the end. Nana manages to get the manuscripts in, and Kaede seems to like the idea of a lovable loser as a rival to the main character.
After Nana finished her manuscripts, it’s funny how Arisa wants to play games with her. The funny thing is, she actually brought the games. Funny how Nana beats Arisa in a Mario Kart knockoff while Mizuki beats Arisa in a fighting game. Funny how Arisa picks the wrong choice in a visual novel since she thought it was the best choice to leave the crying girl alone instead of wiping her tears with a handkerchief. Yep, that character hates the main character, as Mizuki predicted.
Afterward, Arisa comes clean, saying she doesn’t know what to do with her life now that her series has been canceled. Although it says that more is coming from her in the future, her future is uncertain as she is basically unemployed without any active series. She even thought about moving back home in shame. Understandably, Arisa lost motivation after her manga was canceled, making it hard to finish it. It’s understandable, as sometimes things don’t work out. However, being with Nana and Mizuki motivated her to finish her series. She hopes that Nana and Mizuki will root for her to the very end.
Sure, Arisa might make a good pairing with Nana, but she has competition, obviously. There are Mizuki and Kaede, of course. That said, I guess one can say Nana is building quite a big female harem.
