After Shiori took Miko on a date and revealed her past, it’s obvious she doesn’t want Hinako to stay mad at her forever. However, for Shiori to make up with Hinako, it’s an uphill battle.
From the beginning of the 11th episode, in a flashback, Hinako collected seashells as she decided which one to give to Shiori. Eventually, she picked one and gave it to Hinako. However, Hinako thinks the one she picked out is too big, so she thinks it looks better on Hinako.

Hinako was absent from school as she fell into depression. Shiori knows she has bad social skills, and I find it funny that Miko says she should go to a senior center to polish them. They obviously want to check on Hinako. Eventually, she has Miko check on Hinako.

As for Miko checking on Hinako, she brought ice cream. While it started normally, Hinako eventually becomes upset that Miko is glad Hinako survived. Although Hinako is grateful that Miko cares about her and her family, she starts crying as her survivor’s guilt begins to settle in. Miko tries to comfort her by hugging her.
After Miko left, Miko knew all along what Hinako wanted; it kind of hurt Miko. After all, she can’t bring herself to lie to Hinako to grant her wish that she can’t grant. With that, she is not sure that Hinako can be saved at this point.

The next day, it was raining outside, and Hinako, while still not 100% herself, decided to get ready to go to school. As she walked to school, she saw a hand from the ocean, thinking it was her parents’ and her older brother’s. After remembering what they are and recalling Shiori’s belief that Shiori is a liar, she decides to go into the ocean to reach that hand. Shiori came in time to stop her from trying to commit suicide as she dragged her back to shore.

Shiori was not happy at all that Hinako tried to throw her life away. Shiori had to restrain herself from her anger as she almost messed up again and had to talk things through. Sure, I wouldn’t blame Hinako for her state of mind, as she thinks Shiori betrayed her and lied about that promise after learning the truth about the blood.
With the 12th episode, Shiori attempts to talk things out, but Hinako doesn’t believe her. After all, Hinako knows that Shiori can never grant her wish; there is nothing to talk about even when Shiori attempts to remind her to remember the time they spent before the accident while sharing her desire to have Hinako return to her real self, where she is cheerful and lives on for Shiori’s sake. Shiori finally apologizes and asks Hinako for a second chance to rebuild their relationship, but Hinako returns to her former self.

However, Hinako says her former self is gone, and it’s impossible. While Shiori tries to convince her otherwise, Hinako doesn’t believe it. She tries to deny that she saved Shiori because she is special or anything, and just says that she just found her. Hinako really wants Shiori to leave her alone, since she thinks Shiori betrayed her by lying about eating her, when in reality she didn’t. Lastly, she says that she is no longer the person she was when Shiori first met her and can never smile again.
Shiori still doesn’t think this is the case as she wants Hinako to live on. The reason why Hinako feels this way is the survivor’s guilt, and she can’t deal with it anymore. Shiori thinks this discussion is going nowhere, and the Hinako she wants to see come back doesn’t look like she will. She had to take a different approach, changing her promise only to do it when Hinako reached eternal happiness.

However, Hinako doesn’t believe it, as she still feels betrayed that Shiori wanted her to live on, not her parents. With that, Hinako sees the promise as empty, though Shiori reminds her of what they talked about during the festival. Sure, Shiori came off a little insensitive, but she admits that Hinako would likely be dead any day if she didn’t intervene. With that, she wants to make it through Hinako’s despair and find hope that someday, she can bring Hinako back to her former self before the accident happens. She basically does the blood thing again before eventually kissing her and biting her lip. That is, before admitting that Hinako tastes terrible, but at least they finally made up just like that.

The next day, Miko came over to check on her. While they made tea, Miko noticed a mark on Hinako’s lips and thought they were chapped. Eventually, Miko found out what Shiori did, and she is not happy at all. It’s funny to see Miko’s reaction when she finds out, as she forces Shiori to come with her shopping.

Eventually, Shiori tells what happened with the new promise she made to Hinako. Still, I kind of feel sad that Miko got the short end of the stick, as she is at a disadvantage now that Shiori one-upped her. However, there is one thing to be sure of: Shiori probably won’t be eating Hinako anytime soon, as she wants to keep her in this world. I guess until Hinako passes away from old age, as we know, given the life span of humans. Still, it’s funny how Shiori admits that stealing Hinako’s first kiss may have hurt her. The question is, can Shiori keep her promise this time? Either way, it will be interesting to see how the last episode turns out.
