After Ruri, Nagi, Imari, and Shoko went to look for Opals, Nagi seems busy this weekend. That is why Imari wants to investigate some stones involved in an abandoned rail line.
At the beginning of the episode, we see some context on what the hunt will be about. Well, it involves a train and a rainstorm as one of the tracks got flooded out. Imari was reading a book on it, but sadly, Nagi couldn’t tag along as something came up.

So, it’s just her managing the hunt with Ruri and Shoko. She planned to follow the old train tracks to a shortcut to the tunnel, then go through the tunnel and look for manganese or the pink crystal rocks along the trail. However, they appear black when they oxidize in a reaction.

While Imari had some trouble, as she is not used to leading a group like Nagi, she eventually gets into the groove, although she stumbles on some things when Nagi is not around. Imari eventually found a black stone from the novel she read. Imari eventually breaks the manganese rock in half, which reveals light pink crystals. This ore is called rhodonite, as it resembles the color of roses. They are apparently the most common and low-grade. Ruri seems happy to see the pink rocks along with Shoko.

Eventually, they made their way to the entrance. However, after going up to the valley to the tunnel entrance, it’s blocked by rocks. Perhaps a tunnel collapse occurred over time. Imari looks pretty disappointed and doesn’t know what to do, as the path to the mine would take too long.

With that, she wanted to give up, thanks to Ruri and Shoko’s determination not to give up. Eventually, they followed the track to see if they could find ore. Eventually, Ruri and Shoko found them as Imari was about to give up. Eventually, they found them in one area, which excited Ruri. Imari doesn’t know why they are in one location. When Shoko broke one open, it gave off a different crystal that was darker with a lump of crystals. They are Rhodochrosite, but Imari doesn’t know why a higher quality of manganese is there.

As we learn from the novel that Imari is reading, apparently, part of the track that was holding it together got washed away, leaving only the track remaining. The higher-quality manganese was used so the train could cross. It can explain why a pile of them is there, but at least Imari got a pretty rock out of the deal. Imari tells about what she found, and Nagi seems happy that Imari had a good time. Either way, from the looks of next week’s episode title, they are revisiting sapphires. After all, Ruri is not yet done with the search.
