Amaori Renako wants to become more extroverted and leave her introverted self behind, as she doesn’t want her life to be filled with regrets. However, everything changed when she met Ouduka Mai, and a particular incident happened.

As expected, Renako is part of a group of girls who want to befriend Mai, the most popular student in the class, given her family’s reputation. Yep, her introduction to Renako feels like it’s from a Class S work. However, Renako’s energy is low after acting like an extrovert, despite her efforts to distance herself from being an introvert. Yep, she doesn’t want to miss out on a life most students experience.

To change herself, Renako cut her hair and went to a different school so she could become more extroverted. She became friends with Mai and joined her group of friends. However, talking to them seems overwhelming, so she decides to take a break on the roof. Eventually, Mai looks for Renako and tries to save her, as she assumed that she plans to jump off. When Renako becomes startled, she falls off and decides to save her. Renako admits that she accidentally fell off and didn’t attempt to jump.

After saving Renako, it becomes evident that Mai and Renako have so much in common. That is after she admits that she had difficulty doing small talk with others and became overwhelmed. She admits somewhat that she is not a natural at being an extrovert. That is when Mai reveals that her outgoing and cool personality is just a façade, and she doesn’t show her real self to Renako. While Renako is not disappointed, she decides to keep this a secret as they become friends.

That is what Renako thought. In reality, the next day, Mai came to Renako when she was on the roof. Mai admits that she is in love with Renako and wants to be more than just friends, although Renako just wants to be friends with her. It’s funny to see Rena’s reaction when the plane made a heart in the sky. Mai sees something special in Renako after she accepts Mai’s real self.

With that feeling of love in her, she wants to get into a relationship with her. Yep, Renako is in denial, as she can’t believe Mai will fall in love at first sight so easily. Not to mention, she thinks relationships are another challenge as they can lose interest and become insecure over little things. She fears losing Mai as a friend if that were to happen.

Eventually, Mai came up with a compromise of being a couple on some days and friends on others. The funny thing is that Renako is slowly falling for Mai, even if she is in denial about it. She is still going to work hard, as she doesn’t want to return to her old life.

As expected, the moments of Mai and Reina get funnier as she tries to flirt with Renako in the bathroom. It’s amusing how Renako tells Mai that she always gets her way, and the amusing thing is that she admits it, as she isn’t giving up anytime soon. The funny thing is that Renako wouldn’t mind dating Ajisai, as she is more of an angel than Mai. Of course, there is cheerful Kako and the cool Satsuki. The funny thing is that Kaho notices something is up with Renako and Mai. It makes me wonder how much longer they can hide their relationship.

Overall, it was a fun and nice first episode. Yes, Mai took Renako to the VIP pool to have tea. Mai ended up wearing a swimsuit, and, of course, Renako couldn’t imagine wearing one after seeing how good Mai looked in one. The funny thing is that Mai doesn’t plan to swim, but decides to wear a swimsuit to fit the vibes. Still, there are apparent signs that Renako is falling for her, but how much longer until the rest of the group finds out?

There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless…Episode 1: Fresh Tacos – The Yuri Empire
@chikorita157 I'm really in awe of how well they adapted this, taking advantage of the medium with that first person shot at the beginning, and a lot of little things here and there.
I've been thinking of rereading the LN and manga, and this adaptation really makes me want to go for it.

My 2nd most anticipated show and this too had a fantastic premiere!
I already enjoy Renako and Mai’s interactions. The best one being in the tree because it showed two people calmly listening to each other. The rest is glorious Yuri shenanigans.
Mai may be super bold and confident but she showed she wanted to earn Renako’s live the right way. That’s good enough for me.
I also loved the show talk down its tropes without mocking them.
Excited for more of the main duo and rest of the harem!
