After preparations, the day has finally come as Bitter Ganache dukes it out with Otoha’s band. Well, as for the latter, it didn’t quite go as they wanted, at least initially.
As expected, Aki seems overly confident as she plays a love rock song. While it’s easy to listen to and impresses the audience, Shiraya doesn’t seem all that impressed. After hearing it, Lilisa thinks the melody is harsh, with lyrics that are full of fluff and don’t mesh well. But, Bitter Ganache, in a way, is just winging it as those love songs aren’t that genuine.
That said, Lilisa gets upset over the provisional name Shiraya gives the band Blanc de Noir, plus Alpha. Alpha, in Shiraya’s eyes, refers to Lilisa and Tina, who she believes are deadweights that she will get rid of after they win. That said, given that they are an instrumental rock band, it’s already an uphill battle, as people tend not to find instrumental-only bands as interesting. Additionally, it’s more challenging to cover up mistakes since the instrumentals are front and center.

Also, seeing Otoha’s outfit is something, as it’s revealing for sure, but it’s the same outfit that her favorite drummer wore, which she won at an auction. Otoha knows how to make a statement.

From the looks of it, the first song was rough. It’s due mainly to Tina; she had a hard time seeing the keyboard as she’s not accustomed to playing without her shapewear. As a result, she has difficulty keeping up. Shiraya believes that Tina should just quit, as she is struggling. It got so bad that she considered quitting. However, thanks to Otoha’s drumming, with the promise that she would guide her, Tina managed to pull it through.

While Otoha managed to save the band from total humiliation, the audience doesn’t seem that impressed. They are disappointed that Shiraya isn’t playing the guitar, and it annoys Lilisa. As Lilisa tries to show off, she appears to be trying too hard, and the audience seems unimpressed. She is not playing to her fullest compared to her jam sessions and even the first public performance. It’s funny how Aki taunts Shiraya, as she believes that her band is not going to win at this rate.

However, when Otoha starts playing the drums on her own and having the time of her life, like during those jam sessions, Lilisa realizes that she should ignore the haters and the pressures of winning or losing and just play rock because it’s something she enjoys doing. It is only when Lilisa is at her best, as her guitar playing impresses everyone, that they become impressed. Shiraya also remembers why she chose the bass and prefers it over the guitar.

In the end, when the girls realize what makes playing rock enjoyable, that is only when they reach rock music nirvana, as they impress the audience, even the live house owner. The question is, is it enough to make up the rough start? We’ll see next time.
