Now that Natsumi has resolved Tomori’s doubt about her older sister’s school idol dream, the focus is on Keke. Given the episode’s title, Kanon and her friends will do it during summer break, right?
As expected, Margarete finally got her exam scores, and she got a 90. Of course, when Tomari came over and asked what Magarete got, she saw that Tomari got a 100. It’s funny to see Magarete make an excuse for not getting 100% on her test. Given how perfect she was supposed to be, I expected her to ace the test.
Meanwhile, with Kanon being a third year, she has to contend with what to do in the future. That is until Keke came along and shared her concerns about the future. She can’t tell her parents she didn’t think about the future, but her father wants to attend Bejing University, where he graduated. Keke wants to continue somehow to do what she loves. After all, her older sister Keke became a school idol more than everything else. Yep, Keke can’t keep kicking the can. After all, Sumire seems concerned about Keke having to go back to Shanghai in the last season. Of course, Ren notices her in the act.
Eventually, Keke returned to Shanghai during summer break, and Kanon talked to Chisato about it. It’s funny how Margarete accuses Kanon of being friendly with the enemy. She eventually brushes it off until after Margarete, Kanon, and Tomari do practice and decide to head back home. Kanon notices a letter addressed to her with air tickets to Shanghai. Kanon, of course, mentioned that she had talked to Keke about her future.
It seems that the other girls got them, too. It makes you wonder why Keke wants them to go to Shanghai. The funny thing is that Margarete, as a tsundere, wants Kanon to focus on Love Live rather than on her friend. Eventually, she went along with it as they assumed Keke wanted them to come in five days.
As expected, Kanon and her friends finally landed in Shanghai. Of course, everyone seems excited and in vacation mode. As expected, Natsumi is recording videos, and Sumire wants to hit the ground and find Keke. They receive some images where Keke might be from Keke, but it seems cryptic. Kanon suggests checking in the hotel before going looking for her.
Of course, the search is a wild goose chase. Sure, Natsumi, while recording the video, eventually gets hungry and wants to have dim sum. The funny thing is that Natsumi imagines herself in a Chinese dress serving dim sum with Ren, Sumire, and Shiki, which is quite amusing and cute. As for Kanon’s group, she runs into a creepy lady who can only speak Mandarin and asks the girls if they want their fortune told. Given that they don’t understand what she is saying, seeing their reaction is not surprising.
Meanwhile, Natsumi Shiki and Mei returned to the hotel to relax. Yep, at least we see a bonus swimsuit scene here, seeing some of the 2 wave members, except for Kinako, get the treatment. Meanwhile, Kanon wonders why Keke sent them to Shanghai for no reason until night came, and Keke sends an image of the colorful tower.
Kanon and her friends went to that spot. A woman eventually asks if they want to take a boat wide. She was holding an umbrella and knew about Keke. I wonder who this might be as they take a nice boat ride with a tour of Shanghai. That lady eventually asks if they are enjoying the mystery tour. That is when Kanon asked about those photos sent from Keke’s account, and that lady admitted she had done it. Sumire eventually asks if she kidnaps Keke as the lady smiles sinisterly. Kanon seems frightened as this lady seems to know her name. It looks like she is having a lot of fun.
Eventually, Keke performed a song in Chinese. Interestingly, Liyuu, the Seiyuu who voices Keke, who is Chinese, released a single that is only in Mandarin Chinese. It’s not surprising to see her eventually sing a Chinese song like Keke.
After the performance, Keke reunites with Kanon, and Kanon hugs her. Keke finally reveals that the lady is Keke’s older sister and quite a prankster. Her name is Mengmeng, which, when read in Japanese, is Moemoe, as her name uses the kanji for sprout (萌). In other words, she sent the tickets, and Keke found out and thought it was a good idea to show them around.
That said, MengMeng wants Liella to perform at the School Idol festival in Shanghai to save Keke. I guess next time, we will find out the reason. I feel it might be related to Keke’s future, and her parents disapprove. Will it be enough? We have to see next time.
