After Hitomi and Kana save a historic market district from a horde of Kaii, what they do next is obvious. Yep, they go out to do some Karaoke. After all, they need a break.
Given all the work Hitomi and Kana, along with Nikoyama, have done to help save the market district, it’s evident that everyone at the company needs a break. Shigemoto, with his singing voice warmed up, is motivated to do some Karaoke. It’s funny how Kaede got some tickets lined up that expire at the end of the month. Then again, any anime about work needs a karaoke box episode. As you might wonder, what songs will they sing?
As expected, the karaoke part of the episode is fun. Given the Magilumiere’s company culture, we know how it goes. Kana, of course, sees Shigemoto in a regular suit. After he picks his song for his favorite magical girl show, Singing Angel Sugar, he wears the cosplay outfit for Shiroi Sugar’s magical girl outfit.
Yep, it’s funny to see Kana’s reaction to it. Still, it shows Shigemoto’s enthusiasm for magical girls to his coworkers and his comfort in doing so, even in cosplay. Still, Kana doesn’t seem to know much about Shigemoto. Hitomi joined on the way back, and Shigemoto dressed like a magical girl. There is probably more to Shigemoto that Kana doesn’t know about yet, but that will eventually be revealed.
Of course, Hitomi seems like a big eater, as she keeps ordering honey toast for some reason. When she performed, she sang using a fork as a mic while holding a plate of honey toast. Also, we find out that Nikoyama is not good at singing in public as the waiter comes in and stops singing before he starts singing again. Nikoyama is an introvert who is only comfortable singing in front of his coworkers.
What is a surprise is Kana herself. She picks a song from Nogizaka46. The exciting thing about Kana’s performance is that she remembers the lyrics, the song itself, and the dance routines, which shouldn’t come as a surprise given her ability to remember things. Either way, Hitomi and Kaede seem impressed by how cute Kana is and that she remembers the lyrics and dance steps. Still, Kana wonders why Kaede won’t sing, but of course, he avoids that question. But I have a feeling he would rather be behind the scenes.
Of course, Kaede was about to order lunch bentos the next day. It’s funny how Hitomi talked enthusiastically about bento boxes. When Kana tastes the hamburgers, she discovers how delicious they are, as Kaede eventually brings Kana to Shigemoto’s office.
Shigemoto talked with the president of Miyakodo, Asou Miyako, about doing a special project while Hitomi took a break. Kana realizes that Miyakodo is the company that makes makeup, especially for magical girls. He pulled many strings to make this special project happen, which is an excellent opportunity for Kana to learn from other magical girls in the industry.
When Kana went to the Miyakodo office building, she seemed surprised that it looked like a hotel. She eventually meets the magical girl named Aoi Riri. Kana seems amazed by how beautiful she is as she introduces herself. She was on the development team as a new grad before moving to the magical girl team. She considers herself a magical lady, given her age, and obviously, she is interested in it too. As for the task today, buy a cute outfit and have tea. Kana was expecting something else after doing the initial research. It should give some idea of what Kana will do with Riri mentoring her with this joint project. It should be interesting.

@chikorita157@chikorita157.com Nikoyama going quiet when the staff member comes in is incredibly relatable. It was also nice that they showed so much of the actual songs during the karaoke segment.
I wouldn’t have the courage to do karaoke in front of people. Funny thing, during band camp during high school, I didn’t do any karaoke myself.
That said, it’s nice to see them sing at least one song.
