Kurumi wants to become a magician, but no matter how hard she tries, she can’t despite working hard to get in. This feeling is just familiar.
At the beginning of the episode, Kurumi hopes to see the Copern’s Comet tonight with her grandmother. Sadly, it started raining at night after she made a weather charm. She seems upset as her grandmother tells her to give up. Of course, she didn’t give up as she saw a flashing light. Yes, a magician uses her magic with her finger to clear the rain. Thus, she was able to see that comet.
After the magician sees the weather charm Kurumi drawn on paper, the magician lady asks if Kurumi likes magic before giving her a green book. She tells Kurumi to keep it until they meet again, saying that Kurumi can become a magician.
With that, Kurumi worked hard to get into the Rettaran Magical Academy magician program but couldn’t. Despite getting top scores on the exam, she didn’t do that program that would have gotten her in.
Now, she is all mopey as she moves into the dorm, and her friend, Maki, moves in. Yep, Maki tries to calm her down. Still, Kurumi couldn’t get over the fact that she didn’t get into Rettaran Magical Academy after working so hard, and she had no dream anymore. This reminds me of people working so hard to get perfect grades, getting many awards, doing many activities, and getting good scores on entrance exams. After all that work, they don’t get into the school they want to.
As a result, Kurumi feels that her dream is now ruined, and she can’t bring herself to meet that magician lady because she can’t get into that academy. Eventually, Kurumi’s complaining got Yuzu, an Oujou who couldn’t get in. Funny how she told Kurumi if she is not satisfied with the general studies, others want a spot since it’s difficult to even get into the general program in the first place. That said, Maki changes the subject as she grabs Kurumi’s hand and waltzs off.
Still, I find it interesting how the standard studies have no homeroom teacher while the magical studies one has one. Also, the teacher held a Cappybara in his arms, which was entirely random. I feel that there might be a disparity.
Also, when a Magumi second year shows a magic demonstration, which Kurumi and Maki go to. The funny thing is that they use magical devices, which take the shape of a book that allows them to key in things to use magic instead of drawing them. It’s nothing like what the magician lady was doing in the beginning. However, Megumi seems to have a notebook that looks like the ones the Magumi students have. Maki, of course, tells Kurumi to put it away since she feels that it’s something that she shouldn’t show around.
However, things went haywire when Chairman Tran did his magic trick. Apparently, a dog dug up something that merged with his magic, which created a nasty creature. Kurumi thinks she can do something as a magician can do something. Of course, one shows up to deal with the fire monster using a wand. All well, that ends well, right? Well, Kurumi is wondering how this lady is dressed as one. The funny thing is that this dog turns into a young lady who seems interested in Kurumi for some reason? I guess we’ll find out why next time.
As for the homeroom teacher for the general program, there is one. It’s that light blue-haired magician lady from yesterday. Her name is Suzuki Minami. She summons notebooks from her wand; although they look familiar, they are not magic. After passing the notebooks, she revealed that she would make magicians out of them. It makes me wonder how she is going to pull that off. Either way, it’s funny to see Kurumi’s reaction. Will her dream actually become true? We’ll have to wait and see.
