Na Nare Hana Nare – Episode 1 – Kanata and Life After Cheer, For Now

July 9, 2024 by Chikorita157 3 Comments
Kanata woke up after witnessing a bad part of her dream.

Kanata dreamed about participating in a cheerleading tournament until something stuck as she woke up. What is the future for her without cheerleading anymore?

From the looks, it’s evident that Kanata is no longer on the cheerleading team. Hana knows she has no one to replace Kanata. Yes, Kanata is the brown-haired girl we saw initially, as she was in a cheerleading competition with her team. Kanata had a bad feeling while in the air, which led to an accident.

Megumi bedbound and in a wheelchair after some accident, related to cheerleading?
Megumi when she was in the cheer team liked Kanata while she is in the air.

Yes, we see that in the photos of the awards Kanata received. We also see Megumi in a wheelchair, which means she was involved in a cheerleading accident. Believe it or not, cheerleading can be dangerous because of some of the routines that can be risky. Believe it or not, there have been serious accidents as people don’t treat it as a sport; thus, it’s not regulated as one. It should be given the terrifying amount of moves that are close to gymnastics that have a risk of injuring oneself.

As expected, Megumi learning how to walk again is difficult.

Aside from that, we see Megumi in rehab, trying to learn how to walk again. That said, she is in a wheelchair most of the time. At least there is representation for disabled people in this show. While Kanata participated in the nationals, she quit after middle school for obvious reasons. It became apparent when she saw the cheerleading team she was in during their practice.

Wait, a girl on the roof chasing after a cat?

After Kanata visited Megumi, she headed to school. She, of course, spotted a cat on a roof. Then a girl doing parkour chases after the cat as a blonde lady chases after that parkouring girl whose name is apparently Obunai Suzuha. Kanata, of course, follows them, which leads them to a high-class school. Obviously, Obunai is a pretty introverted girl.

Yes, this happened.

The blonde-haired girl kisses Kanata on the cheeks, which nobody expected. She is Brazillian and perhaps has the longest name so far, Anna Aveiro Nakamura dos Santos Morella Cuccittini. We know that this kiss is not romantic and is to show affection. It gives some an idea of where this is heading, of course. Ohtani Nodoka, Anna’s friend, is struggling to chase after her.

Anna trying to recruit Kanata to do videos with her.
Kanata sneaking into class didn’t quite work out.

Obviously, Anna is looking for people to help her with her channel videos as she struggles to gain views. She is trying to recruit Obunai because of her parkour skills. Still, Anna is not very lucky. She still sees something in Kanata’s athletic skills and wants her to help with the videos. When Anna and Nodoka left, she already realized she was late.

We can see why Anna’s videos don’t do well.

Eventually, Shion came to the hospital to push Megumi’s wheelchair back to her home. Of course, Megumi tells her how often she comes to visit and that Kanata left the team because of that accident. At least Kanata introduced herself to Shion as she revealed how many people she met. Shion, of course, knows about Obunai and Anna. When Megumi showed her one of Anna’s videos, we could see why her videos weren’t getting traction. Who wants to watch a video of her eating ramen and reacting negatively after tasing it.

Anna now kissing Shion now on the cheeks.
It’s a no for Obunai.

The next day, Kanata was at that school entrance with Anna hugging. This time, Anna kissed Shion, and it got everyone looking. Of course, when Obunai shows up, it’s evident that she turned Anna down.

Kanata isn’t letting Obunai get away.
Yep, Kanata flew that high.
Thankfully she landed safely.

It’s up to Kanata to ask Obunai. Yep, she chases after her as Obunai wants to get away from her. She seems annoyed that Kanata won’t stop chasing after her. It was not until Kanata found herself jumping off a ledge trying to catch up to Obunai that she remembered that moment that led to that accident. However, this time, she manages to land on her feet without injuring herself before falling flat. Kanata realizes she flew and tells Obunai as she tears up a bit. Quite amazing how Kanata managed to survive after going up that high, but we’ll see what happened afterward next time.

One of many great starts. This will surely fill the void left by the lack of an Anima Yell S2.

We already got 3 potential pairs. hopefully some or all of them come true.

Also excited to see more cool chairleading action.

Agreed, it should be interesting to see how this develops.
