Utena figured out what to do with Enormita: messing around with Tres Magia and then blasting off like Team Rocket. With that, Utena and her friends finally take a break. Yes, finally, a beach episode.

Finally, Utena and her friends go on vacation to a beach. Yes, it’s the beach episode everyone was waiting for. Yes, Kiwi had Utena wear a skimpy swimsuit, which, of course, caused Utena to become super embarrassed. While Kiwi likes how it looks, Utena changed into a one-piece swimsuit.
As expected, seeing the girls have fun playing on the beach and the ocean is nice. Of course, you have Matama and Nemo bickering over, wanting to use the daunt as Matama can’t swim. Of course, there is a rivalry between Karouko and Kiwi. As for Haruka, she played with Koritsu.
Of course, when Utena puts on sunscreen, Soyo notices the clear bag that Utena has. Yep, it has Tres Magia on it. Of course, Utena, the world’s biggest magical girl fan girl, shows her enthusiasm for Tres Magia and even asks Soyo who her Magical Girl Oshi is. Soyo is in an awkward position, considering she is actually Azure. As expected, Utena said she loves all three, but it’s evident that she loves Azure the most. After all, seeing Utena put on sunscreen reminds her of the massage she received when she was Azure.
After a while, as Haruka helps get the water out of Matama’s stomach, Utena wonders what to get at the food stall. Of course, two drunk ladies cut in line, and Utena couldn’t order anything. That is until Kiwi shows up in her transformed form. Yep, Kiwi pulled a Koritsu to protect her love interest, which gets the interest of Tres Magia. Thankfully, Enormita transformed quickly, and the magical girls didn’t notice.
As expected, since Kiwi had that octopus, Baiser used it for some, well perverted stuff. Since she can’t control the octopus well, it got the other members of Enormita. Knowing that Kaoruko hates octopus, she is completely helpless.
That is until Azure shows up, and she finally shows her powered-up form to Baiser. Of course, Baiser also powers up and gets excited to see Azure’s new form. It’s evident that the power source for Azure’s “Maiden of Hoarfrost form.” It’s funny how Haruka and Kaoruko know how Azure got stronger by embracing her masochistic desires.
Of course, even with Utena combining her attack with everyone, Azure eventually defeats them after withstanding that attack. She used her Avalanche of Love, which turns her love into a powerful beam that sends Enormita blasting off like Team Rocket.
At the end of the day, Utena and her friends are tired after what happened. Kiwi wants to play with fireworks, but Kaoruko isn’t in the mood. As expected, they fought while the others had fun with fireworks. Soyo notices how much fun Utena has. Maybe because she is happy to see Azure’s new form, as this satisfied her enough, along with having many friends. A day later, Enormita and Tres Magia do their usual thing.
Final Thoughts
As expected, Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete is the season’s biggest surprise. While there are a lot of suggestive scenes, fanservice, and nudity, none of it was censored, which is a first for a yuri genre show.
It explores the girls’ kinks, with some that are strange and eventually accepting them. This is, of course, especially the case with Utena who is forced into becoming a villainess who is forced into becoming a dominatrix. However, her urge to become a sadist is awakened, thanks to Venalita.
Thanks to Utena doing her sadism on Soyo/Azure primarily, she gets so absorbed in this that she lets her kink overcome her until she comes to accept it. I admit there are a lot of interesting moments and character development as well.
Not to mention, Utena’s seiyuu and Fuuka Izumi did a surprisingly good job bringing out Utena’s sadistic side. That said, there are a lot of good yuri moments, most notably with Matama/Nemo, Utena/Soyo, and Utena/Kiwi. As expected, I hope there is a second season in the future, which is more likely than you think.

492nd G-View: Gushing Over Magical Girls – The Yuri Empire (full review)
@chikorita157
I haven't read the manga, but I'm wondering if the mascots are generating a conflict to make stronger magical girls and villains to do something. Maybe a Madoka Kyubey-style energy harvest, or preparing a team to fight a greater threat. :meowthinking:
I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the case, given how cunning Venalita is. After all. it used two magical girls in order to make Utena stronger. I must be on to something.
@chikorita157 I almost missed this one had a 13th episode! Thanks for the reminder.
Thanks, but yes this was a 13 episode series since it started a bit earlier than the other series. Both series I covered for Winter were 13 episode series.
This show was magical and exceeded my expectations. Most of the naughty scenes were greet, our heroines and anti-heroines were a lot of fun, the action could be pretty cool in some fights (especially the season finale) and the Yuri surprised me in the best way possible.
I REALLY hope we get more animated.
Agreed, it’s a really fun show, and given how many Blu-rays it sold (a bit over 8K), there is a good chance for a second season in the future, hopefully.
