As expected, Claire and Rae are doing the Academy Knights exam. It’s obviously where this is heading, right? Yes, a potential rematch against Claire and Rae.
At the beginning of the episode and leaving off from the last time, Claire freaks out over seeing Ralaire in the room with Rae and Misha. Claire is obviously not convinced by the tricks Ralaire does until she transforms into a miniature version of Claire. That is when Claire changes her mind as Rae explains that Ralaire can transform to blend into her surroundings. Yet another sign that Claire is defrosting.
The focus of the episode is the practical exam for the Academy Knights. While some of it was explained in the last episode, it’s basically like the student council. Only those who pass the exam with the highest scores can take the practical exam. This is where the challengers are paired up in a duel to show their magical skills. Rae has a match-up with Claire, which gives Claire a chance to have a rematch. Yes, they did.
As for the first two matches, Thaine wins against Yu after overcoming the icicles. Yu launches, and he passes the ice frozen on the ground and comes up to him from behind. On the other hand, Misha puts up a good fight with Rod by using her wind magic as Rod summons his fire minions and launches them at her. Misha manages to make them explode. She eventually uses a Vacuum Rupture skill that makes it impossible for them to attack her. It obviously came at a cost, as Rod can simply overwhelm her, which makes it difficult for her to breathe due to reduced oxygen. In short, she surrendered.
Now, everyone is waiting for the match between Claire and Rae. Rae basically outwitted Claire as she tried to use everything she had. Since Rae knows how Claire fights, she takes it easy and even avoids Claire’s attack. Somehow, Claire uses her powerful Magical Ray attack, a warning shot that didn’t hit Rae. She thought Rae would surrender from this, but Rae simply created a hole beneath Claire. Rae used it twice before the referee declared Rae as the winner.
Believe it or not, everyone passed despite winning or losing, as it’s meant to show practical ability. Claire seems disappointed for some reason, as she can’t get Rae to leave the academy. Nevertheless, Rae gave the same wish as the last challenge, telling her to never give up. The funny thing is that Thaine still has Ralaire. I wonder where he will leave it.

I’m in Love with the Villainess Episode 5: Exam Slam – The Yuri Empire
Claire is better than Dookie Prince at fire magic, yes. Poor Misha. Unfortunately she was yet again unprepared for Rae’s devotion to her. Good thing our heroine is using her knowledge for the greater good (the greater good).
For sure yes, I don’t have much interest in the princes (maybe besides Yuu, which more will get revealed later on). Still, Rae’s fight with Claire was pretty funny as well, for obvious reasons. Still, it shows how much Rae cares about Claire and putting in that prior knowledge as well.
