While there is not much to say about the final two episodes of D4DJ All Mix, I combined my thoughts in one big post.
Episode 11
Now that Mer4aid and Rondo, along with Photon Maiden with Lyrical Lily, had their collaboration performances, this leaves the remaining two. Yes, Happy Around and Peaky P-key, which is not too surprising since they are from the same school. They also had an outing in the last episode. The same theme goes with the other collaborations outside the comfort zone.
This time, Happy Around worked their hardest to show the best versions of themselves. I find it funny how Maho, Rei, and Shinobu pulled all-nighters to get dark bags under their eyes. The result is pretty good, although Muni gets upset over getting close to the other girls. After all, Muni wants Rinku to give her love, not another girl, especially when she tries to. The Peeky P-Key and Happy Around Christmas performance was a huge success.
Episode 12
This leaves the last episode and the New Year’s performance. We see a scene where Rinku’s parents are on an island in South Africa, and they have a jar of bugs. They gave a large horn as a present, which blew into produces a loud noise. Maho makes it into a sound bank so Rinku can use it to bring the new year.
The gist of this episode is that they couldn’t perform at their usual venue. Also, Alt Ego can’t fit everyone on stage, so each group picked its leading group member to perform on stage. They also went over the experiences they had during Project Beckoning Cat. Still, I must admit the horn sounded obnoxious, but at least it turned out well in electric form.
Either way, their New Year’s performance was excellent, and of course, we see a glimpse of UniChØrd and some other new DJ group. The funny thing is that we see Michiru as a cameo as she shows up in her live stream. Yep, she appeared to make her own DJ group, a hype set up for a future sequel. From what I heard, there is a canon yuri pairing between Kokoa and Hayate.
Final Thoughts
While I haven’t finished the first season, although I tried to, the sequel is an improvement. Sure, we saw more of Happy Around since they are the central unit of the franchise. However, it makes Lyrical Lily feel like an afterthought, although they have their moments.
Still, the CG animation is an improvement over the first season and even the 2nd and 3rd seasons of Bang Dream. It also has funny moments, most notably Saori getting frustrated over trying to understand English and Maho’s dream where she can only speak English. Also, the moments with Rinku and Muni are cute and funny. For example, it’s funny when she takes a bite out of Rinku’s food she just bit out of. Also, during their outing with Peaky P-Key, Muni appeared jealous of what Shinobu and Kyouko did by sleeping on the same futon. Even so, it’s still lovely how each group got the time in the spotlight. Also, the remaining DJ groups are getting their collabs, like with Rondo and Merm4id. Overall, it’s an enjoyable watch and makes me wonder how the new D4DJ groups will turn out if they decide to make a third season.
Such a great and funny chapter
