D4DJ All Mix – Episode 6 – Maho’s Speaking Only English Freaky Friday

February 12, 2023 by Chikorita157 3 Comments
Rei and Muni looks forward to what Maho will come up with next.

Now that Merm4id has come out with an excellent collaboration song, it’s evident that Happy Around will be next. Of course, Maho feels under the weather and wakes up and finds out she can only speak in English.

At the beginning of the episode, Rinku seems excited to see Maho about their upcoming performance. However, she finds that Maho is missing. Apparently, Muni and Rei wondered if Maho was working on a song for their performance at Operation Beckoning Cat.

Maho’s friends can’t understand what Maho is saying. She can only speak English for some reason.

In fact, Maho was sick all this time. I must admit that how she woke up from bed seemed unnatural. However, she said, “it’s raining” in English. That seems odd until she tries to speak to Maho, Rinku, and Muni about Operation Beckoning Cat and can only speak English.

Funny how Maho can only write in English now.

I find it funny that we have yet another episode of someone speaking English. Last time, we had Saori getting frustrated over trying to talk to Laura, that can only speak English. This time, Maho has a Freaky Friday-like moment where she can only speak and write in English. Surprisingly, the voice actress for Maho can speak fluent English and be born in America, which makes sense why they decided to make this the plot line. However, this makes me wonder what they will do for the English dub. Will Maho speak in Japanese instead of English?

Obviously, Maho’s friends are worried about the way forward.

They met to figure out what to do about this situation. After all, Rinku, Muni, and Rei don’t know English well, making it challenging to coordinate their performance planning. Sure, Haruna suggests Happy Around trading places with Photon Maiden, but they don’t want that. Thankfully, there is someone that could understand the gist of what Maho is saying. Yep, Esora and Miiko know some English. Either way, Maho seems determined to do it to challenge herself and show the new Happy Around.

Maho doesn’t realize that this is a dream, but apparently she sharts hallucinating thinking the TV was on.

Most of the story is about Maho struggling to regain her Japanese speaking and writing abilities. Meanwhile, we have Rinku, Muni, and Rei wondering if they rely too much on Maho. They realize this when she is absent for three days in the real world while Maho is sick. Meanwhile, Maho comes back and sees the TV is on show at some concerts when the TV is off.

Looks like Dalia is unbeatable.
At least her friends still have her full support for her.

As expected, Maho tries to face off against Dalia to get her Japanese-speaking abilities. Besides losing, it didn’t even help restore her Japanese-speaking abilities. Thankfully, it’s nice to see her friends support and help her piece out their new song for their performance. Unlike Saori, who got frustrated by trying to speak to Laura, we see Maho willing to take help from her friends without question. I find it interesting how they created a song just like that. Either way, Maho seems confident about the performance tomorrow.

Maho wakes up and thought it was the day of their performance and she created nothing.
Thankfully, her friends thought of everything.

The funny thing is that when Maho wakes up, her Japanese-speaking abilities are back. However, when she opened her laptop, something was off. It seems as if she didn’t work on anything. Thankfully, the performance wasn’t happening until a couple days later, and Muni, Rinku, and Rei came up with something when Maho was sick. They realized that relying too much on her was a bad idea.

Maho freaks out as she haven’t listened to the song Rinku, Muni, and Rei help put together. Also, zombies.

Either way, Happy Around’s performance was interesting. Maho had no idea what song they had created and panicked a bit. That is until she got into the groove, and everyone was seen as zombies. I guess her state of mind or the song affected her state of mind. Either way, it looks like Photon Maiden, the last group that hasn’t received the spotlight yet, will get it next time.

Even so, I have to admit this episode was hilarious. Besides the comedy from the language barrier, I’m surprised that Kagami Karin can speak fluent English was surprising. Uchida Shuu and Amaki Sally aren’t the only foreign-born Japanese that can do so.

Glad Maho kept her promise to speak a lot of English this episode. Enjoyed it.

The Street Fighter homage was excellent.

Yes, and it’s very surprising that Maho has good English. I didn’t listen to the dub, but it’s interesting the same voice actress also voiced the English version, which is interesting. Agreed, that homage was nice.
