Despite Liella not winning the Idol Festival last time, the concert they threw moved Mei particularly. Will she finally join? The answer seems a bit more complicated.
As expected, Mei looks up to Liella as she has the desire to join. After all, she gets angry when Kinako brings it up and tries to recruit people. Of course, Shiki thinks so. She notices that Mei is looking through binoculars at the roof. I find it hilarious how Shiki puts an AirPod in Mei’s ears, and she noticed. Yep, she went through the trouble rigging the roof up with mics. Clearly, Shiki looks out for Mei.
Meanwhile, Kanon tries to figure out who is the club president. I find it odd that nobody picked a club president. It must be that Keke didn’t come up with one, or the girls were so busy trying to save the school. That said, it’s evident that all of them say that Kanon should be one since it’s natural, although she doesn’t want to.
Kanon suggests Chisato become the president when she comes to the food stand. After all, Kanon wants to reinvent the group. Thus, Chisato might be a good choice. That is when Shiki comes up to them.
Shiki comes up with a plan to lure Mei to join the School Idol Club. I must admit that I liked her setup of setting up a skeleton with her lab coat and a wig on the head. It scared the crap out of Mei. When she saw the roof, she saw Shiki, which surprised her. She decides to give it a try to lure Mei. We will find out the reason soon.
Mei went up to the roof to check. The girls noticed, but Mei blew her cover when she got excited over them standing in a straight line. It’s evident that she is interested but denies it. She asks if Shiki will become one, but she is undecided. Mei becomes for some reason, but why?
To learn more about Mei, Kanon, her friends, and Shiki decide to check for themselves. When they saw her room, she filled it with idol merch. I knew Keke would get excited since she is an idol fan.
When Mei came into the room, they hid. Thankfully, Mei didn’t notice them after Kinako sneezed. Mei must be nearsighted and can’t see that far. She is like me, who doesn’t seem to like glasses. After all, it’s uncool to wear glasses for some reason. It can explain why she glares at Kinako, which makes this a misunderstanding.
Shiki shares how she met Mei. Apparently, she likes being alone, but Mei insists on becoming friends with Shiki. It can explain why she hangs out in the science club, despite having no interest in it. Of course, Shiki followed her as she noticed she chose the school they are in now. Yes, for the school idols, especially Liella, for some reason. She only joined for Mei’s sake.
Shiki runs into Mei and wonders what she is scheming. Shiki wants Mei to become honest with herself and join. Still, Mei doesn’t want to since she is not cut out for it. Shiki wants to be alone and tells her not to go to the science room if she is not interested. This really gets Mei angry. Mei hates being alone despite saying she wants to.
I understand that her scary looks deter her. But, if she never tries, she would never know. The flashback with Kanon and Chisato brings home the point as Kanon tells her to do it even if Chisato thinks she can’t. With that, Chisato finally remembers that moment and makes up her mind. So, she becomes the club president.
In the end, Kanon talked with Mei. She finds out why Mei doesn’t want to join. Kanon tells her if Mei never tries, she will never know. Also, Kanon notices that Mei wants to be with Shiki and the same for Shiki. In other words, this can explain why Shiki was so upset. So, if she is going to be a school idol, Mei must do the same.
Thankfully, Mei meets Shiki to convince her to join. She gives the same excuse as Mei did before Kanon convinced her otherwise. This time, Shiki believes that she can’t become a school idol because she can’t smile and her appearance. We see a role reversal here, but Mei managed to pull through. After all, she wants to be honest with herself and have Shiki come along. Either way, it was a nice moment as they held hands.
On the other hand, Natsumi is really suffering from packing the truck. She must have had a rough day losing money on meme stocks and trying to recover with various odd jobs. Thankfully, she is finally getting the spotlight after being a cameo for 4 episodes.
The wait for this episode was worth. Loners brought together by fate and motivated by each other to become idols. Love to see it.
Chisato becoming the club president was a nice twist but Kanon is still the leader of the group because orange.
Agreed, I like how Mei did the same thing Seiki did to her, but it’s good that they became honest with their feelings. I can see why Shiki lured Mei to join as she wants her to come along and know that it’s something she wants to do.
It’s not too surprising that Kanon doesn’t want to be the center of everything, but Chisato has some roles that will make her suitable such as the moves and training of course.
