The big day has finally come, how did Komichi’s performance turn out?
As expected, there is not much to say about this episode. It skips to the after the sports festival where the students have after-festival party. Basically, this episode is the moment you’ve been waiting for.
I have to say, the performance is what I expected, very interesting to watch. Not to mention, Erika’s piano playing, and violin skills are put on full display. Of course, some in the audience noticed that some of the routines Komichi did look like the ones during her cheering.
Also. It’s nice to see some of the sports festival festivities. While there is that moment where Hotaru messes up during a badminton game made me feel bad for her, Komichi’s class unsurprisingly won despite losing some events. Still, I must admit that Hotaru is a precious cinnamon bun, although I wish she had a bit more development. I guess there is the manga.
As for the next day, it’s obvious that Kao had to wake up her older sister. After waking up, Komichi felt that the performance felt so surreal as it’s already over. She went to school after eating her breakfast and changed into her uniform. As expected, Erika was the first one in class. Eventually, rest of her classmates came in.
Final Impressions
I must admit, Akebi-chan no Sailor Fuku is the biggest surprise of the season mostly for its great artistic direction. Yes, the show has some fanservice, but it’s done in an elegant way. Perhaps, you can describe this show as being as such given the art direction and the soundtrack.
As expected, the characters in general are enjoyable. Yes, Komichi is very outgoing and an energetic girl who manages to make a lot of friends in her class. Her popularity is not too surprising given how athletic she is and the fact she is wearing a different school uniform compared to everyone else. Yes, she has a lot of self-esteem to do this as there might be some who might bully her for doing this. Thankfully, it’s not the case here, since she has a lot of friends.
Of course, Erika is obviously one of her best friends. Some may say that Erika views Komichi more than just best friends given her interest in her with some things in common. Still, it’s not too surprising given some subtle moments such as wanting to play the piano for Komichi’s performance among others.
Overall, Akebi-chan no Sailor Fuku is an enjoyable school-girl slice of life show that most fans of the genre will enjoy. Sure, I wish that they focused on Hotaru given how adorable she is besides Komichi’s little sister, Kao. Either way, I do plan to start reading the manga at some point in the near future. Hopefully it will receive a localization at some point.
Depending on how a certain anime ends Akebi is easily my AOTS of Winter 2022. Simple concept but the execution was FANTASTIC! Komichi and her harem all ruled along with the other side-characters. While Komichi’s obviously the MVP Erika’s the breakout star who became a legend. Bless her and bless their relationship.
I agree, for me at least, it’s a contender of the top anime depending on how the other titles turn out. But Komichi and Erika is a good pairing that turned out great, which makes me wonder how things go from here in the Manga. I will find out, eventually.
