After Hiyori goes on her first fishing trip with Koharu, the family decides to have a camping trip with Koi’s family. Yes, it’s for some family bonding time.
At last, Koharu and Hiyori look at each photo album to get to know each other. It’s obvious that Hiyori as a child was adorable. We also see Koharu as a child with her mother and little brother, Natsuki. Sadly, like Hiyori, Koharu lost her mother and little brother in a car crash.
Yes, this show seems more somber than it appears. At least Hiyori got some time with her father before he passed away. Koharu never got a chance to say goodbye to her mother and younger brother. Somehow, Hiyori wondered where the rest of photos Koharu have. Apparently, she hasn’t organized them yet, or she is hiding something? I guess we can only wonder.
Hiyori notices that Koharu talks with too politely to her new mother. Of course, Hiyori is kind of the same way with her new father. That comes the idea of family bonding time over some fishing and camping. Of course, Koi tagged along with her dad. He dragged his children along, which causes Koi to become annoyed. As expected, she issues a challenge to Hiyori and Koharu to catch something or otherwise, no dinner.
Of course, when Hiyori and Koharu got on the boat, Hiyori had some trouble getting the boat off from the shore. I find it funny when Koharu tries to row the boat, they went around in circles. When it comes to fishing, Hoharu seems amazed by how Hiyori casted the line. Of course, she is aiming for the outlines of the fish.
Eventually, Koharu and Hiyori had lunch on the boat. The funny thing is that Hiyori had a pickle plum rice ball and mention that folk tale it drives fish away. Yes, after all, it’s bad luck since Ebisu, God of fishing hates sour stuff. This causes Koharu to becomes shocked as she might screwed her chance to catch a fish. Of course, it’s not because of the superstition, but going past the feeing time
While it eventually rained, they waited under a tree. Hiyori mentions that she never saw the lake in bad weather. It’s obvious that Hiyori is having more fun with Koharu as it eventually cleared.
It seems as if Koharu is screwed when Hiori says it’s time to return. This is when Koharu found a fish. With Hiyori’s help, they help catch it together. It’s obvious that this is the most precious time they had as Koharu finally caught a fish with Hiyori’s help. As expected, she got to eat her catch by grilling it. Yep, Koharu really looked forward to this after seeing this in a manga.
Sure, Koi is shocked that Hiyori and Koharu thinks she get along with her dad. She thinks that Hiyori and Koharu only understands other families from the surface. Either way, Koi finally considers her dad as a human being than just a parent. Thankfully, Hiyori offered her meal to her new father during dinner. This causes Koharu and their mother to become emotional.
Either way, it’s obvious that Hiyori and Koharu had a lot of fun in their fishing and camping trip. Of course, they want to come back and do the same during the fall. Even so, Hiyori thinks that her actual dad won’t recognize her anymore, but Koharu reassures her that won’t be the case. That is as long she has that smile. Yep, she mentioned that to Koi in the last episode.
Either way, I must admit this episode was a nice bonding moment with Koharu and Hiyori if the last episode wasn’t enough. After all, they have one thing in common that strengthens their bonds with each other together.
More sister-wives goodness.
I can imagine how hard it is for children to grow accustomed to stepparents.
Poor Koharu must have a lot of pain bottled up. Hopefully it won’t hurt too badly when she eventually lets it all out. We know she will.
Always nice to see to see Hiyori and Koharu progressing nicely. Still, I can see why it would take them a while, especially since they are part of a new family. I hope that Koharu doesn’t bottle that pain for a long time, hopefully, although it will take time.
