Slow Loop – Episode 2 – The First Fishing Trip and Hiyori’s Childhood Friend

January 14, 2022 by Chikorita157 2 Comments
Koharu is sad that she is not in the same class with Hiyori.

Now that Koharu is part of Hiyori’s family, they finally start their first day of school. Of course, Koharu gets to meet Hiyori’s childhood friend, Koi.

At least Hiyori and Koi is in the same class.

As expected, Hiyori and Koharu finally finds out which class they are put into. Sadly, they are separated, which is not too surprising. At least Hiyori manages to get into the same class as her childhood friend, Yoshinaga Koi. Still, Koharu seems upset over not being in the same class although Hiyori seems calm. Still, it’s obvious that Hiyori is best friends with Koi as she has a nickname for Hiyori. Yep, Koharu isn’t going to like that.

Hiyori went to Koi’s fishing shop to buy this.

Of course, after school, Hiyori takes Koharu to the fishing supply store that Koi’s family runs. Yep, Hiyori reveals that Koi is her best friend and I find it funny how Koharu becomes surprised that Hiyori has a friend. Of course, Koharu went there thinking Koi is named after a fish. This of course triggers Koi as she becomes scary and said her name means love.

Yes, Koharu went there.

Besides learning about the various baits used as a lure, Koi goes on a rant about her father. Apparently, when Koi’s mother gave birth to her, her dad was busy fishing. Yep, he is trying to avoid parental responsibilities so he can focus on his favorite past time. Even after coming 5 hours late and managing to fish a koi, he wants to name his daughter after a fish.

Koi makes it clear she doesn’t like this comparison.

Thankfully, her mother changed the kanji to the one for love (恋). After all, it would be very embarrassing if she is given the kanji for carp.  I can see why she doesn’t get along with her father and dislike fishing. However, she seems to respect Hiyori’s father since he is not too obsessive about fishing to unhealthy amounts.

Koharu is jelly that Koi is close to Hiyori.

Koi also reveals that she gives her a nickname of “Yamahi” since there were two people with the same last name. Yep, it becomes obvious how close Koi is with Hiyori that Koharu becomes jealous. She shows this feeling when she walks back home with Hiyori.

Yep, I have a feeling that Koharu and Hiyori is more than just best friends or non-blood related sisters.
Yep, it finally happened and it’s only the second episode.

Thankfully, Hiyori takes Koharu to places she went to as a child with her father. Yes, she went to that tower, which Hiyori as a child seem afraid of because of how high it is. Ironically, Koharu becomes afraid after climbing up to the top of the tower after becoming excited. Yep, it brings her back memories. Of course, Hiyori offered Koharu to hold her hand, so she won’t get afraid. Yep, it’s obvious where their relationship is going, especially when Hiyori gives the greedy little fly set to Koharu as a present.

Koharu, Hiyori and Koi having fun in the car.
Yep, Koi looks like a celebrity.

Of course, Koharu and Hiyori went on a fishing trip with Koi and her father. As expected, Koi’s father went off fishing on his own at a lake. Also, Koi had an umbrella and wearing sunglasses. It’s obvious that she doesn’t want to get a suntan. Evne so, I find it funny how Koharu thinks that Koi looks like a celebrity. I think so too, especially with those sunglasses.

It’s obvious that Hiyori depended on Koi given how shy she is.

While Koharu failed to catch anything, she got to find out more about Koi’s relationship with Hiyori. Since her father and Hiyori’s father go fishing together, Koi and Hiyori get to spend time with each other. Despite Hiyori’s shy personality, Koi can become friends with her. She even become like her older sister to her. However, after the day that Hiyori’s father passed away, Koi feels that she can’t step foot near the ocean. She is not sure if she is worthy of being friends with Hiyori. Of course, Koharu doesn’t think this is true and at least she has the smile and make Hiyori smile, she can still be friends. As expected, Koharu isn’t going to give up the older sister spot to Koi. Still, am I sensing a female harem or love triangle? Maybe.

Sadly, Koharu couldn’t catch anything.

With the fishing trip over, it’s obvious that Koi wants to go clothes shopping with Hiyori. Of course, she thinks that Hiyori needs cuter clothing since the clothing she wears is well, boring. Still, it’s obvious that Hiyori wants to spend money on fishing gear than clothing.

Koi is a worthy “Harumin” no doubt. Glad she’s the third member of the main group and we’ll see much more of her from now on.

The OTP Sisters continue to bless viewers with fanfic fodder.

Excited to meet the other side-characters.

Not too surprising, but it will be nice to see more of her soon. Still, it’s nice that Hiyori and Koharu is developing nicely.
