Now that Fuuka finds where Kukuru is as she meets her, is Kukuru ready to go back from her break?
After seeing the baby sea turtles hatch, Fuuka finds Kukuru sitting on the beach and looking at the ocean. It seems that Kukuru seems down that Gama Gama is gone, and she doesn’t know why she worked so hard. It’s obvious that Kukuru is suffering serious burnout as she blames herself, but surprisingly not her a-hole boss. Of course, he should be blamed mostly for this situation. You know that he won’t admit his mistakes, but it can’t be helped. It’s part of his personality traits to act insufferable.
Thankfully, Fuuka doesn’t think Kukuru should blame herself. Either way, they slept in the same hotel room as Kukuru sees Fuuka sleeping next to her. Yep, she seems at ease when Fuuka is around for emotional support.
The next day, Kukuru takes Fuuka to the aquarium she visited. She introduces Fuuka to Umi-yan’s wife, Misaki. Of course, Kukuru thanks her, although she said that Kukuru should thank Fuuka. Of course, Misaki explained her studies about sea turtles and her efforts to protect them. This inspires Kukuru to focus her work to help the animals.
Yes, your trash and mistreating them is one of the reasons for their struggles. Still, it’s interesting how Misaki’s talk about her work got Fuuka interested in environmentalism, especially pertaining to the sea. Of course, Kaoru is surprised that Fuuka is interested in this topic as she mentions climate change and its effects, especially the coral bleaching we hear so much. Sure, some want to deny the existence of climate change, but it’s very real and it’s the result of humans treating the environment poorly.
When Kukuru came to work and apologize to her boss, he doesn’t get angry. I guess he might have realized that he messed up badly. Thankfully, it seems that an attendant position opened, and he sent a recommendation for it. The question is, will Kukuru take the offer to get away from her a-hole boss? Still, she seems hesitant has she knows that it’s Karin’s dream to become one. Still, it becomes obvious why that position is open. More on that later.
Using the inspiration from the trip, Kukuru starts incorporating the stuff from her trip. She also asked other people about weddings from her coworkers. She even asked Fuuka, about what she will do for her wedding when Fuuka is about to mention a name. Of course, we shouldn’t get our hopes too much. Either way, Kukuru seems excited to take care of animals again.
On the second try, Kukuru decides to invite Miura. Of course, she comes off a bit cold since she thinks Kukuru is wasting her time. She also showed her around the aquarium before taking her to the new event spot. Kukuru seems confident this time and came up with creative solutions to find a middle ground while not harming the sea life.
While the Miura seems skeptical, she eventually embraces the idea. Believe it or not, Kukuru’s boss stopped being insufferable for this one time by complimenting Kukuru for her good work. Still, I think he got off a bit too easy for his action. Regardless, I think he is still an insufferable a-hole.
As expected, Kai gets the short end of the stick. Yep, Kai who probably has a crush on Kukuru gets put on the bus. Apparently, his father collapsed and needs surgery. I guess he outlived his purpose of being Kukuru’s (and Fuuka’s) punching bag thanks to her a-hole boss. Maybe that might be a thing of the past if Kukuru decides to switch over. Only time can tell.
The climax or epilogue better be what many of us hope it is. The seeds were planted so they better grow into the desired tree of true love.
Nice to see Kukuru finally get “Mr Congeniality” to give her credit.
Wonder what Kukuru will choose?
Hopefully and with Kai maybe out of the picture, maybe it will happen. Still, it should be interesting what path Kukuru takes, although her boss got off a bit too easy from his a-hole behavior.
